Already looking at the new Tosh Picture Frame 2, though the 32" model doesent seem to be about yet. Also interested in seeing the new Panasonic PD30

Has anyone spotted one in a local shop?

TX32PD30C price here. Not sure about delivery though.

    TX36PD30C here

Robertsons told me they are still waiting to hear from Panasonic for supply date.

wonder why they bring the 36" out first? - same with the new Tosh Picture Frame 2 - you think the 32" would be more popular.

I spoke with a Panny dealer yesterday - apparently the launch of both models has been put back to June. He said he'd seen one at a trade show, and the picture was "phenomenal". Can't wait to have a look at one.

Just got a Cinema@Home newsletter from Panasonic and they announced that the TX-32PD30 has now been launched and the TX-36PD30 will be available in June. Can't wait to see one in action...

I think I read somewhere that both sets do PAL and NTSC progressive scan... that'd be good. Still looking for a good set after my JVC HV32D25 debacle.

    32''=795x579x533
    36''=897x644x550

EDIT: The 36' dimensions above may be incorrect as I now have seen some other figures.

    Hi all,

I am an EXTREMELY HAPPY owner of a Panny TX-36PD30 as from yesterday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First off, about the picture quality: this is simply jaw dropping, amazing, fantastic, et all... It is more of that than what I expected it to be. But what do you want after having watched and used a Grundig 63 cm 4:3 TV-set for almost 17 years, which BTW still works perfectly ;-). However used to be a salesman in a big chain store some odd years ago and was specialized in TV and camera's during that time, and I have a very critical eye for detail, so I know what I am talking about :).

Anyway, just would like u to know that whomever has set his mind on buying this wonderful TV-set, DO NOT HESITATE, this is it !! (and I can assure u I am not a Pana salesperson .....). This picture is even better than plasma screens (in my opinion) and it beats all the Philips Pixel+ TV's in the corner. Maybe the only one who comes close would be the Toshiba PF2, but even then....
And I didn't even connect a DVD player yet since that one is backordered @ Philips (DVD-963SA), so I'm talking about cable signal here !

Only very minor drawback is the sound, but hey, if you have a nice surround set this wouldn't matter at all....

Any questions post them in this thread...

    Cheers,

    akira70

I have 1000 questions and now I don't know what to ask...
I think the only way for me to understand the meaning of words is to compare with something I know = Pixel + (9527).

I have a pixel+. The resolution is the best I have seen so far on a crt. So how is the Pana pd30 in this aspect? Is the picture suffering from "jumping" whenever there is a moving object ? Does the picture look processed/digital like the pixel+ or more filmlike. And how about the grey scale (pixel+ is my refernce here)?

    Regards,
    per

I think that the biggest question on the minds of most potential buyers of this set isn't one of performance, but of reliability and design problems.

Most 36'' sets offer great picture quality when properly set up, but they all seem to come with their own set of problems. i.e:-

    Sony FS70/FS76 - scolling bars
Toshiba PF1 / Strata - sides of picture too light
Toshiba PF2 - green trails on fast moving objects
    Philips - scrolling bars

I really hope that this set can break the trend and offer a high quality picture with none of the "features" that have blighted its' peers. If that is the case, then there will be one sitting in my room in the not too distant future, but I have a horrible feeling that over the next few weeks reports will start to appear on this forum regarding the PD30 involving all the same old problems.

I tried my local panny dealer yesterday and they told me they wouldn't have any in til the very end of the month (and then only one of each model). And presumably they'll want to use these as "display models".

I've put my order in for a 32" (subject to being happy after seeing it working), but don't expect to get it until sometime next month.

I guess the currys and comets of this world won't get any for quite a while yet.

Incidentally, as of today, empiredirect are showing both models "In Stock!" (with an exclamation mark!) Hopefully this means some more people might get one soon and give us some more reports........

Does anyone have the specs of this set, and does it have component inputs? All the websites I have seen it for order on state 4 scarts and progressive scan, but no mention of component sockets.

Whilst their website claims they have both "In Stock!" :nono:

Are they allowed to mislead like this?

Anyone seen the 36PL35? It's supposed to have the Quintrix SR tube, but none of the fancy new features of the PD30.
