Just wondered if anyone knew wehre to find one of these on display in London or Kent. I'm tempted to buy one of these instead of a 36" Sony.

The Hitachi is the Plasma screen of the year in What Home Cinema (i think that is the new name) magazine, however I have yet to see one only the inferior 2100. Check out the review in the mag also.

Certainly looks like a good choice for those space streched like myself.

Harrod's have one, and it looks very good. I'm also tempted...

Thanks for that Prusling - went and saw it in Harrods and I was very impressed.

Harrods is a very good place to view TVs - staff were very knowlegeable and helpful. Its one of the few places where Tvs seem to be connected up to decent quality aerials. They were happy to set up a DVD for me to watch and for me to play with the set without putting any pressure on me.

The analogue TV reception was much better than other plasmas that I had seen - though still not as good as a normal CRT I thought. I'm not sure how important that is as I will mainly watch Sky Digital.

I was also very impressed with the DVD playback (RGB not component) - colours were superb and the picture was very sharp. The staff gathered round to have a look and the general feeling was that the only plasma that had as good a picture quality was the Panasonic range.

I am definitely sold on the Hitachi now. My only hesitation is to wait and see how much the 37" will be - 42" is too large for me.

Have they announced 37"/42" models as well? I can't see it on their website.

    Thanks for posting the links.

The Hitachi site seems to show integrated speakers for the 42" whereas the Japanese site shows them as separates. Do you know if the speakers are going to be detachable on the 37"/42"?

Also, has anyone called Hitachi about UK release dates?

    Thanks

I just called Hitachi and was told that there are no current plans to release the 37" screen in the UK - very annoying indeed.

BTW the speakers are detachable on all models.

Speakers detachable on all models? I don't believe that's true. They don't seem detachable on the 32PD3000 to me. At least not on the picture on the Hitachi website.
If you can tell me otherwise, please do! It would be an extra plus point for the 32PD3000!

I have a 32 and they are fixed on that model; the manual gives instructions for attaching/detaching speakers on the 42.

    Cheers, Peter
