the trailer for part one of this russian horror film looks intresting , anyone seen anything on it?
wow , cant believe no one has seen this?
if you do a search for it first, it would throw up a few threads on it..
Yes, saw, did'nt really like it. Im getting rid off my copy, amonst others.
i did a search , nothing came up , so i posted!
great film and the second is coming soon !!!!!!!!
can you give a bit more info dvdmike?
just bumping this one up as it deserves a bigger thread than this! Fantastic film, my Russian work colleague brought it back from Minsk for me...can't wait for the next installment but it looks like this could turn into a full blown saga! All must see it...
Anyone recommend a cheap place to pick up the Russian disc? I can't seem to find one...
this is region 0 well worth the money...if the menu is in russian then it is the same transfer as the R5 that I have. international shipping adds another $6.90 to the price but it is still worth it!
order mine on monday from the usa and it has arrived this am!!
its the region 0 as above and cost £10.03 inc postage etc
brand new factory pressing and sealed with security strip
got it through a dealer in the usa who i found through fleabay usa
hope this helps
I have ordered mine from cine-east and will be here in a few days hopefully, so will post a review once I have seen it.
will look forward to that review pio...
It's looking great. I didn't see any info on release dates, is there an estimated date yet?
there's an advert for it in this month's Empire but I can't remember the date...
Watched it at the weekend....
Its pretty good, although I found it hard to follow at times - probably needs a second watch.
I am guessing there is going to be a sequel as well.....
the next one is already in production but I believe the story arc spans seven installments.
I thought it was based on three books - Nightwatch, Daywatch & some other watch (Dusk i think)
i watched a while a go, had to watch it twice as it does loses it self in some places in the film
Just got mine today from Movietyme...
So far all I've done is drop it in the DVD, and checked the print quality, menus (in Russian - that's going to be fun ) and subtitles (no dubs).
I'll be off later today to buy a beer (or 3) to enjoy later with the movie after the wife & daughter have gone to bed.
As an aside - I thought it was 1st of 3 as well (Night, Day and sommat else)
I watched about half before i was called away to do other duties around the house but seemed to be okay if not alittle
Anyhow UK version is cut by 15mins which our version does have.
having now got a genuine russian r5 special edition - the above copy must be considered of dubious origin
although as previously noted mine was sealed etc - a tranlation on the top line of the cover is roughly 'not for sale in moscow'
i understand that these discs are produced in the russian republics (they are NTSC and r0 ) - at best they are semi legal i guess
for information my early copy is exactly the same as the one shown on the redsundvd site
my 'new' copy se is the one shown on movietyme site although i did not buy it from there
where did you get it from then? And are they a reliable company?
Saw it on the weekend and enjoyed it. From what I know there will be three films. With the last being in English, with a bigger budget.
Ive just seen this as well - i came a way feeling slightly dissapointed, dont get me wrong the movie is visually stunning but maybe it as having to read the subtitles (which by the way are very cleverly interspersed within the visuals)
but the story just didnt buzz along at the level i was expecting.
That being said I will certainly be watching the two sequals, and i would recomend that people should go and see it just for the experience
Watched it this afternoon and thought that it was brilliant.
This is how Underworld should've been.
I sat through the credits and part way through them there was perhaps a 10 second clip from the second film, it's just of a man standing in the middle of the road with his arms held out at shoulder height before getting a buss in the face. Yon fella stands there and takes, then it goes back to the rest of the credits.
i got mine of a guy i use on ebay for hard to find foreign films - however he has none left
suggest you use movietyme as their edition (se) is the same as mine and the price is comparable
dvdredsun is i think a quasi legal version from the russian republics
