My launch day unit is now giving me all sorts of crap, but thing is its been opened so the security seal has been broken, has anyone attempted to return a unit with a broken seal to MS for repair? or do i now need to attempt the various repair methods from xboxscene? thanks.

Breaking the secrity seal has invalidated your warranty, so MS would be within their rights not to repair it for you.

Mate Ive read on other forums that people have sent back 360's that have the sealed broken and removed, also some drives have been flashed and the console still has been fixed. Besides its not MS that fixes them its another company and I dont think they give a dam it its opended.

How long does it generally take MS to collect and repair your console?

When my 1st 360 died back in May it took 10 days from pick up to return.

Need to get my other 360 fixed too, but that has no security seal (previous owner had it in a different case).

I might just chance it and call M$ and hope for a free repair.

If they refuse to fix if for free can I opt to pay the 80 odd quid they used to charge?

    These guys quote £50.

I've not used them. I found a link to them on GAME's website.

    Cheers dude :smashin:

I could actually do it myself easily enough with the X-Clamp method but the reason I would like M$ to fix is is for both the extra warranty and the new heat-sinks.

If they say no then I'll have no problem bringing out the Dremel and AS5 ;)

Surely as its a launch day console its out of warranty anyway, unless you're getting the RED RINGS OF DOOM

I've recently had my Xbox Core replaced due to the red rings of death and it only took 14 days from me sending it away to getting my replacement back

If you'd read the title, it does state in there that it was the RROD...

To OP, I have seen a few other posts from people saying they'd sent them in without the stickers etc, and still went through. So worth a try. If they turn round saying it'll cost because the sticker's been removed, turn round and tell them to leave it, and ask for the console to be sent back...

If you do try it though, then post back here what the outcome is/was... :)

Worth noting that this is £50 PLUS the price of any parts it may require, not sure if this is the same as m$.

I've just had a RROD today, checked on the MS Repair website and it says im still in warranty :smashin:

    Only problems are:

    1) I dont have a receipt. On the T&C it says i need to include a purchase receipt to prove it's in warranty. Surely if their own website says it is in warranty that is enough?? I could always include a print-out from that page i spose??

    2) Do UPS come and collect it for free?

    TIA

RROD is covered by the 3 year warranty mate so of course you're still covered (unless you are Dr Who or Marty Mcfly).

Just call them and request the labels.
