Hi everyone. New member here

Can anyone recommend a decent Macro lens for my Canon EOS-10D?

I can't afford to spend a load of money which probably rules out any of the Canon lenses so does anyone have any experience of a Sigma or Tamron lens or any other for that matter?

Sigma's 50mm f2.8 is great with my 300D so should do the job nicely - makes it an "80mm" lens with the 1.6 conversion so it's fine (the 100mm version didn't "do it" for me).

Don't forget if buying 2nd hand that older Sigmas don't work on the digital Canons.

bear in mind that at 1:1 with a 50mm lens, your working distance between the lens and the subject is only a few centimetres - which may start to cause you problems with lighting. the 105mm version will cost you a bit more but will also afford you a couple of inches of working space.

    Cheers for that guys.

I've also heard some good things about the Tamron 90mm f2.8 Macro lens.

Looks like I'm going to be checking out a few lenses!!

an excellent website for all things digital is www.dpreview.com. They have loads of reviews and feedack from both professionals and amateurs on all manner of goodies. When I bought my lenses, I checked the reviews on this website.

    Hope this helps
