Connected my 360 to component and displayed both 720p and 1080p and honestly I did not notice any difference.

Im running my 360 on a 40" Sony V3000. With the PS3 I notice the difference.

What material are you viewing with the 360 and the PS3?

There will be no 'extra' detail in the majority of games as they are 720p native resolution.

if its games then i dont think the 360's got many 1080p games

but the ps3 does - so you will see the difference.

also the tv you are using will make a difference too

Try a 1080p native game like the virtua tennis 3 demo, and you'll notice the difference. Most games are 720p, so running the xbox @ 1080p only means the console scales the image to your 1080p panel, rather than the panel scaling it itself, so not a lot of difference.

That said I reckon I can notice a difference, but only because I sit really close to the screen. It could be a placebo though...
