hi
i've recently been buying capra dvd's, and have just finished watching meet john doe. what a fabulous disc for a film this age, some great extras.
also bought...
lost horizon
mr smith goes to washington
arsenic and old lace
its a wonderful life
it happened one night
it makes me laugh when people accuse capra of being overly sentimental and too trite, if you just look under the surface a little, the man is a genuine revolutionary. in the thirties and forties it wasn't to cool to make anti government films, not i hasten to add, anti american films. mr smith, john doe and lost horizon all take a bite out of the then current regimes, and still apply to todays motley crew.
anyone else with an opinion on capra they'd like to share?
