Does anyone know when the Aladdin dvd is out?

I'm after the original Robin Williams one which I know has been available on VHS but I don't think has been released on DVD yet.

    Thanks!

I think it's the "big" release towards October this year, just like Snow White then Beauty and the Beast and then The Lion King.

    So October 2004 *fingers crossed*

The meaning of life is... to live  I guess

Oh, and the reason Britney refuses to take your calls is because she's too busy talking to me on the other line :D :smoke:

    ...I wish!!!

    Regards,
    Iain.

This will definitely be one I'll buy. Not a massive fan of Disney, but this is a great film; shame about the crap sequels (as standard with any Disney film it seems).

I hope they do a special home theater sound mix like they did for The Lion King.

Talking about Disney, can anyone tell me what was the first Disney movie in widescreen? I bought the Jungle Book and the Aristocats on region 2 and was disappointed that they were not in widescreen...

    Cheers!

Jungle Book is in its original 1.33 aspect ratio as are all early Disney cartoons.
The earliest widescreen I am aware of are Sleeping Beauty (2.35) and Lady & the Tramp (although I have seen discussion on HTF that this was both 1.33 & 1.66 ? as they do with many of their new cartoons they produced both a standard & widescreen version. One having more at the top & bottom & the other at the sides)

The first ever Disney widescreen format cinema film was The Lady and The Tramp 1955 and shot in Cinemascope.

There is no standard fullscreen versions of Lady and The Tramp or indeed Sleeping Beauty they are both heavily panned and scanned when shown fullscreen, Cinemascope was an expensive format to film in and used bulky cameras in the fifties.

Sleeping Beauty was shot in Super Technirama 70.

Yeah, good spot Lex... I'm not in two minds weather to pre-order this now or wait for the R2 and possible DTS...

...Saying that, the soundtracks on R1 Disney titles have hardly been shabby... decisions, decisions :D

    Regards,
    Iain.
