On the Toshiba web site, they now metion the new model of their 42" Plasma called the 42WP36.

Since the WP16 and WP27 were Panasonic (Series 4 and 5 respectivly) you would imagine that the WP36 is going to be a series 6.

However, some time ago, it was stated that Toshiba were changing from Panasonic to something else (NEC I think). This change didn't happen in time for the Series 5 (WP27), but I am pretty sure I was told that it would be the case in time for the next model.

So, is the WP36 a Panasonic? If not, what is it??

The Technical Spec shows it as having a Contrast Ratio of 700:1 and Brightness of 700cd/m2, so it doesn't sound like a Panasonic.

It also shows it as having 3 SCARTS and 2 Component inputs.

I wonder if this new model will be any good???

NEC quote a contrast of 3100:1 I think for the 42VPS I think, so perhaps not their laest panel? Looks nice.
