Well, after taking screenies of just about every pj I have owned or demoed up until about 4 weeks ago I have been enjoying my new Sharp pj so much that I just havn't gotten round to taking any pics.

If anyone is interested I will oblige but if not I'll just carry on enjoying the films and normal Sky TV as this pj delivers the most astounding Sky picture I have ever seen on a pj. It looks just like DVD - amazing.

Well, I just remembered that the first day I set up the new pj I did take a couple of pics and just found them. This was straight out of the box with absolutely no tweaking whatsoever.

These first 3 were from my Tosh SD900 DVD player connected via Van Damme component cables.

and this final one is from Sky+ conneceted via S-Video to my A1SR amp and upconverted to component.

8ft wide owl screen with pics taken from about 13ft.

If anyone is interested I'll take and post some more now that I have tweaked the pj a little.

Yep, a cracking pj :) Not sure I'd want to pay £7k for one but at the price I paid (although lens extra) I'm a happy man :D

And I know the picture is now better and can be made better still with proper calibration etc. Only tweaked brightness and contrast a couple of notches so far. So much to play with :)

Do you have any good advice you could share about calibration please?

I watch mostly films and have seen the Avia disk talked about, is this sort of disk the only way or are there a few general rules of thumb to start with until that point?

    cheers

You can also use the THX optimiser on disks such as Monster Inc and Star Wars or of course your eyes :)

There are also other disks such as Video Essentials or you could go real top end and use things like Colorfacts or SMART calibration. Searches on this forum shold reveal info on all these techniques.

is there anything i can get off the internet that will do a similar job for free?

Looking forward to it. Biggest difference will be CR for sure. Not sure how other things will measure up. Bring your DVI cable if you have one as mine is routed through the ceiling to Z10k mount position.. I have component and power leads so only the DVI to think about.

    C ya.
