I enjoyed burnout 3 and did not buy Burnout Revenge on the older formats as I wanted it for the 360. Is it worth buying and is anyone here thinking of buying it?
My only problem is too many good games being released and I dont know what to play :(

I had never really played burnout before, but then got it for the PSP. It has been the game I have played most on the PSP - even more than PES5 and GTA - which are my fave PS2 games. It is a brilliant game and very addictive.

I have it on pre order for the 360. :D

The live aspect of this game sounds excellent - lets hope there is no lag :)

Im exactly the same, didnt get revenge on older formats so will be a must have on the 360 for me as Takedown was awesome online for me on the Playstation. I got it preordered with Gameplay so hopefully get it Wednesday or Thursday.

A couple of mags I read rate the game high, but I noticed through other threads here there are a lot of traditionalists on this forum who rate Burnout 2 as the best and dont like later versions. Like I said though I personally thought Burnout 3 rocked, so if Revenge is anything like that, especially online I will be a happi bunni :)

Ive got it on Pre-order ive played a few games on the xbox version and didnt like the crash modes as much as burnout 3 they didnt have the multipliers and the stage selection didnt have the map style bit to choose stages.

I am looking forward to getting it though

Revenge was my favourite online game on the xbox and I can't wait for the 360 version. Many will disagree but I think this is the best Burnout so far, the traffic checking is not to everyone's taste but the crash mode is so much better than Takedowns. The online part played very well on the xbox version btw, no lag problems at all.

 The crash mode in 3 was awful IMO, no skill required other than working out how to hit the x3 multiplier. Revenge;s crash mode takes far more skill to work out the best impact point and where to move with your crashbreakers. They have taken out the goldf style swing meter for starting a crash course on the 360 version which a lot of people will be pleased about (it didn't bother me.)

PES 4 had lag (I dont have 5 on the xbox) I heard Fight Night is a nightmare to set up and boots you off and Toger Woods and Top Spin most of the time played well.

DOA also has lag. It's really annoying as it's such a good game.

It does depend a lot on who is hosting though

I also have it on order with play - usually if I order with play I get it on the day of release.

I hope so anyway as I have this Friday off!

I got Revenge on my xbox, cos at the time I was planning on holding off on the 360 (yeah, like I managed to curb that impluse - NOT! LOL)

Basically got it cos I really liked 3 - nice bit of 'disengage brain and just have fun' type driving
(Though having said that, I did end up with all the cars except the F1 jobbies  )

For me Revenge was a bit of a let down :thumbsdow
Races are still good, and the whole revenge takedown thing is a bit of fun

Traffic checking - didn't really float my boat - I'm too used to trying to miss the other cars I guess LOL

Crash mode - all just seemed a bit almost, well, random. Basically, if you hit half a dozen cars and lucked into getting the 'target' car to crash (which was a bit hit and miss [no pun intended] as it doesn't drive along until virtually last when you've long since lost control over what's left of your car) then you get enough $ to pass.
At which point (even if it was only a bronze) I moved on as fast as I could :(

Overall - I wouldn't have bothered buying it if I knew then what I know now.

(Although obviously the 360 version might be better :) )

I'm not too sure, already got PGR, NFSMW and RR6. Can't see the justification in buying another racing game. Sure it's slightly different with the crashes etc., but still.....

Don't forget about Test Drive Unlimited, also released at the end of the month. If you include Full Auto, that's 6 car racing games released already.....

Drive through (literally) the other traffic, against the clock.

For each car (or combo of) you hit, you get extended time and points.
Aim is to get X points before time runs out.

Hitting cars from behind = points
Hitting them head on = crash and burn (and therefore loose time)

    HTH :)

Is that one of the modes in the game? I loved having t get my speed boost by weaving through traffic and missing the cars.

    Yep - Traffic Attack.

You still get the boost in the normal ways in the other race styles (which is good), but in Traffic Attack you have to errr, Attack the Traffic :)

Apparently it gets better / more difficult as you progress in the game, but to be honest, despite finishing Burnout 3 (almost), I got bored with Revenge and it's currently gathering dust in my 'try this game to see if it works on the 360 yet' pile :)

Save the test - it doesn't work on the 360:thumbsdow

For me this was made a bit faster than it needed to have been....I personally found takedowns were more by luck than judgement:rolleyes:

I think I'll hang fire for now.

I dunno i thought the Multipliers gave you more to do in the crash mode aswell as still needing to get a impact point on traffic after hitting them *shrugs*

But all that you needed to do in 3 was hit the 3x multiplier and avoid the heartbreaker to pretty much guarantee a gold. At least with revenge you have to pick the right place to make impact with a vehicle , pick what vehicle to hit, some levels required you to check certain cars to get a good score and all require you to control the crashbreaker well to get a high score - far more skill required IMO.

I enjoyed it on the Xbox when i rented it out, but hopfully they may bring a demo out. I know the graphics are not that big a improvement over the Xbox version, but the sound is way more of a improvement.

I'm considering it after deliberately holding off buying the Xbox version. Barely touched Amped and PD0 though, and Football Manager is looming large on the horizon...
