The GE range were based on NEC chassis. I think hte 610 was based on either a NEC6 or NEC9PG. Possibly NEC10PG but I'm not sure.

    Either way, if it's in good condition £1000 for a NEC6PG, 7" EMF focus CRT is GREAT VALUE!!!!I If it's a NEC10, 9" unit I'll buy it!!!!

    Gordon

Just make sure it isn't knackered as it's £600+ per tube for replacements.

    It's a rebadged NEC 6PG.
    They are nice projectors.

The NEC sales team never got their act together in the UK when selling CRT projectors which is a real shame because they had the potential to be up with the Sony's and Barco's.

£1000 is a good price so long as the tubes are in good nick.

You should be able to get the manual from here.

Thanks guys for your replies, much appreciated. I am seeing this projector Wednesday. It is bancrupt stoke and the projector is Brand New in Flight cases and comes with a "System Interface" what ever that is and is complete with all the manuals.
I have been assured that if there is anything wrong with it I will get a full refund, just hope its as good as they say.

They came as new in a carboard box. A Flightcase would be made for a rental machine. This PJ is probably about 6 years old now so what has it been doing for that time if it truley is barand new.

However your price is good. so don't look the gift horse as the say.

Actually the 610 is a rebadged NEC GP5000, a nice 9" machine. Not very bright though...

Thanks Guys, I have now viewed this and it is indeed in a flight case which is about the size of a "small car", well not quite but it is huge.
The projector is imaculate, there is not a mark on the outside and it came with a System Interface SI 5320G and that too is imaculate and it a seperate flight case. It is also labelled "Graphicsmart with Digital Interface"
As I could not get it to work I made an offer of £150.00 and now its here at home.
I took a copy of the specs of the NEC and it is very similar but there are differences. I have now got to figure out exactley why it won't turn on.
The owners manual does say "General Electrics Imager 610EPJ Graphics Projector". I will look up the models you guys mention to see if it is the same, in the mean time does anyone know where fuses, if any, are located on these type of projectors?
    Thanks again for the replies

Is this the Bargain of the year?

Even if it doesn't work, but the tubes are in good nick, they'll fetch a good price.

    Folks
It "appears" that these projectors have suffered fron "power supply failures" and is very common. The chip PJX-01 IC is the culprite but now I need someone to check the power supply out for me, preferably at home goz it's huge.
At least if I get that done I know I have to find a poser supply and apparently that is going to be difficult.
I an hoping I will fgind another projector for spares or the GP3000 as it too has the same power supply.
So if any Techies out there fancy a fresh cofffee on the South coast and could check this for me I would be most hospitable.
    I will keep you updated

    Malc,

The UK NEC service guys are Hulcote International in Bedford.aka Goodies,

They can fix NEC stuff but I'd use them as a last resort....best to source parts from them for maximum savings rather than getting them to fix stuff....
