As the title says, has anyone had the SE upgrade yet?

My amp was booked in the first day that Denon announced the upgrade, but I have still not heard anything, and that was about 2-3 weeks ago.

    Hi Ian.
No I havn't either. Like you, I was booked in weeks ago... even before the official announcement.
I rang my dealer today, and they knew nothing either.
They said they'd phone Denon and get back to me....... but nothing yet.

Look back on my earlier posts to see how annoyed I was about this many months ago.... my warranty is nearly up and I've never been able to use the equipment as advertised.
To still be waiting in September goes way beyond any expletive I could use to describe Denon UK's customer service.

I will get the upgrade done as soon as possible, but after that I will NEVER buy anything Denon again!

I spoke to my dealer again who said they'd speak to Denon and get back to me. Guess what.... I never got a reply!

I've also just mailed Roger Batchelor at Denon UK to find out what's going on.

    hmm

just posted a thread in dvd area re buying an A1 to go with my A1SR - i think i'll give it a miss.
a real shame but i have to agree Hayden/Denon support is pretty poor to say the least.
looks like it might be an arcam!

Contacted the place where i bought my a1sr from about 2 weeks ago... the first bloke i spoke to wasn't sure whether they were offering that service (??!!), but the next person was marginally more helpful and said they were still awaiting details.... asked them to call me as soon as they had a firm date, but haven't heard anything since....

pretty poor all in all.... gawd knows how many potential customers who read these boards this fiasco has cost Denon.

Maybe they're waiting for the go ahead to include the upgrade to Dolby PL2 X at the same time as doing the Denon Link? Rather than have the unit make two trips back to the factory. Or is it that too sensible an idea? :p

Roger Batchelor is the guy speak to at Denon.

    [inappropriate comments removed by admin]

After many, many months I'm not wasting my time with them anymore, and I'm taking the matter further.

[inappropriate comments removed by admin. Warning - read the rules - this kind of language will get you into trouble]

    Denon should be publicly slated.
Even if they now have plans to incorporate PLIIx into the upgrade (I won't hold my breath), the least they could is extend me the decency of a reply.

    Shocking and outrageous.
Prospective Denon purchasers should know the kind of company they'd be supporting.

i also asked denon about the pro logic 2 x update and told it would be the end of this year begining of next but no price as yet

Denon UK customer servoce don't seem to have any idea about this - had never heard of it.

About to get an SR spec A1-SE - are they capable of driving a 4 ohm load?

    Cheers

well things might be moving along a little bit.... Had a call from my dealer today who took down all my details, which he said he then had to fax to Denon. Once the dealer has received a flight case, it will be sent out to me into which I put my amp while the delivery guys wait and it goes back to dealer, or maybe denon. Thereafter it comes back to me, either in a flightcase or in a box. Wasn;t too specific on timings but maybe next few weeks. I was assured that I was first on their list, which was something, so fingers crossed this debarcle will be over soon, and it will be worth the wait!!

Mmm, I wouldn't believe a word of it... this same ruse has been tried over the last 12 months.
They already have our money, and as a very sad consequence we are the lowest priority.
Fortunately, there are other companies who aren't so narrow minded.

    Terry,
write to the Hifi press. We've been well and truly stitched up with this and £5600 is a HUGE amount of money.
I don't have a lot of money, I just worked and saved hard to buy these items and I'm really hacked off about it.

Its beyond a joke, its serious business and we should not let them get away with it.

So, write to Denon (emails are just ignored) and to the HiFi press.
The more of us do this, the more chance we'll have of ever getting it sorted.
I also believe we deserve some kind of compensation.

I went to the Entertainment Show in Manchester today, specifically to talk directly with someone from Denon about this issue.

They told me the process is now actually underway and alot of units have already been done. Apparently they started doing them about 2 weeks ago.

If that's true, I'm disappointed with my dealer for not letting me
know, but relieved that I should be able to get it done before the Christmas rush.

However, why do I still not quite believe it? Where is everyone on this forum who have been waiting for it like me.
Can anyone confirm that it really is underway.

I got a phone call from Jo at Denon she said that the flight cases are taking another month but if i still had the original packaging, which i do have, i could take it back to my dealer which i did today and it would be done within 10 days. This was the outcome of several firm e-mails to denon, but anyway my amp has eventually gone!!

    Tis off. . . . . .

I have just handed over my (K)AVC-A1SE to Audio-T and I even helped pack the flight case. Looks like the upgrade is on its way

No too sure how long Hayden want the box for, but have been given a A11-SR as loan box.

    Will keep you informed.

Jase - which MK's have you got?

Perhaps Denon have programmed the Denon link upgrade for the A1SR/SE to the Denon Link Mk 3 specification, as seen on the back of the screen shots for the DVD-5900, and Denon are waiting for the go-ahead from Sony and Philips for SACD transmission. It might explain why they are holdong back and why it's taking so long. Only a thought.

I have put mine forward for the upgrade but i'm wating for the A1 relpacement so i'm in no hurry.

S150THX at the fronts and S85's for surrounds.:)

Just to throw more fuel on the fire. What about the Dolby PLIIX upgrade? Are you guys going to resend your amps back to Denon (again!) for that? Or is it all being done at the same time?

According to this post by Denon USA's Marketing Manager it needs both a Hardware & Firmware upgrade with the A1SR's being done first and then the KA1SE's to follow.
