I know that there are bound to be plenty of discrepencies on the site but could someone help me with this one.

From www.starwars.com, 25th May 2002, Darth Vader profile.

"Skywalker was seduced by the dark side of the Force. Fueled by rage and discontent with the pace of Obi-Wan's training, Anakin challenged his master to a duel. Despite newfound power bestowed by the dark side of the Force, which added to his already formidable abilities, Anakin was grievously wounded in the fight. His burning anger kept him alive, and he was forever scarred not only by his wounds but also by betrayal".

I thought that he was wounded by his tussle with Dooku, not Obi-Wan. Or is this some other injury that he will suffer in Ep III? Lip smacking prospect for an emotionally charged confrontation in the final movie or a mistake?

    What do you think?

    Jack.

This does refer to Episode III events and is talking about the injuries that result in him having to wear the famous Darth Vader uniform with breathe mask etc. This was in the novel for return of the Jedi and is referenced in the guide to the starwars universe as follows:

'Vader was once Anakin Skywalker, expert pilot, hero of the clone wars, and disciple of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Learning to use the force by kenobi's methods was too slow for the impatient Anakin. He wanted a quicker, less difficult path to the vast power he sensed all around him. Emperor Palpatine offered him just such a path-the dark side. All Anakin had to do was give in to his anger, fear and aggression. Ambitious and headstrong, he stepped into the dark sides embrace and became darth vader.

According to the Return of the Jedi novel, when Kenobi saw what had become of his friend and student, Anakin Skywalker, he tried to draw him back from the dark side. But Vader wanted none of that. The two fought, and Vader fell into a molten pit. Though Kenobi thought him dead, Vader emerged from the pit. His shattered body, however, had to be sustained by life-supporting armour. When Kenobi learned Vader had lived, he helped Anakins wife and new born twins (whom Vader was not aware of) escape into hiding - Luke to Tatooine, and Leia and her mother to Alderaan.'

This information is from the Guide to the Star Wars universe and is based on info in the novels of the original trilogy. However it would seem that George Lucas reserves the right to change anything he feels like. Recently on the StarWars web site, someone asked if Owen Lars was Obi-Wans brother. They said not and that information was based on outdated ideas. Those ideas were in the original novels also, where it states quite clearly that Owen and Obi are brothers. So the information that went before could be inaccurate, although the information you refer to would seem to support this story element as being relatively unchanged.

I can't wait for episode III.

Episode 3 is going to be a strange film! It cannot possibly be anything other than really dark. There is no way that it can have anything like a happy ending... Anakin turns to dark side, Padme dies?, Twins split up, All the Jedis killed, Yoda goes into hiding, Kenobi goes to live on tattooine, the Empire takes control of the galaxy...

    Can't wait!!!!!! :D  :D

George Lucas has pretty much said that's how it's gonna be. It's OK though, as we all know the eventual happy ending.

    Can't wait.
