I'm looking at high end 2ch power amps, and have stumbled on an auction for one of these..

It's built like a tank and has the spec i'm after (180w into 4 ohms) and has a hefty new price of £1800...
Has anyone ever listened to one? I've never even heard of them before...

Any feedback would be a big help...

    Thanks BeeKeeper...

I'd almost made up my mind, as sometimes you can just 'tell by looking' if you know what i mean...

Your opinions seem to carry some heavy weight around here, and that will do nicely for me..

I'll let you know how i get on..

    Cheers,

    :)

Well, she's on her way over from Germany as we speak..

Got scared of the auction and sent a PM to the seller, turns out it was Aaron themselves selling Pre-owned amps via Ebay !

I've picked up a No.3 Millenium for 763EUR including delivery..
It's 1 year old and has just been through a full factory refurb & test.

    WOW!!

Got the beast running last night, and all i can say is WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOYEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

My Dyns are now showing their true colours at last !

If you're looking for high-end power amps with a bit of style and plenty of muscle you've just gotta try one of these..

I can honestly say i've never dealt with a company as courteous or efficient as Aaron, fantastic service, and excellent communication. I'd recommend them to anybody and have already ordered my next 3ch beastie already.. :)

And to think i nearly bought one of those grim looking Pa***ound boxes.. :D

Beekeeper, I am so chuffed i can't put it into words. :)

I just can't believe what i've got my hands on for £500.
And the funny thing is, if i'd paid the full £1800 I'm pretty sure I'd be saying exactly the same thing.

I can't find a review of these things anywhere. That is a very nice looking amp you've bought.

The info on the site is a little limited, can you give us some details, dimensions, weight, connections and anything else you might think of?

    Thanks

    daneel..

Shipping weight shows as 14kg.. (feels about right too)
I'll have a measure up when i get home and add the dimensions later..

There's a female IEC power socket, 2 RCA inputs, and some heavy duty gold plated speaker terminals..

The front fascia is 10mm brushed aluminium, and the 'badge' on the top is about 6"x6" aluminium and engraved:

    "Aaron

handcrafted for friends of fine music"

for a brief summary of the No.3's qualities think 'Mercedes SL55 AMG' ;)

Stacking two of these on top of each other is gonna make me feel like HiFi Royalty.. :)

The amp is so honest I can now hear the VFD display changing on my 3803 !!
never mind.. Aaron make pre-amps too.... :D

    Hi all.. Dimensions are:

    360mm D (including binding posts) x 440mm W x 110mm H

Weight is 12.5kg according to my bathroom scales..

The No3 Millenium 2ch and the No.33 Cineast 3ch are physically identical, with the No33 feeling a tad heavier though I haven't weighed this one as i was in too much of a hurry to get her plugged in.. :)

These really are beautiful amps in absolutely every respect, If you get your hands on some you'll be grinning for a month.. :D

Thanks, The depth should make placing them easier. Now all I have to do is decide which one to get first to try them before buying the rest.

    Hi The Dude,

Just wondering how things were going with this amp at the moment, I've found another one on ebay from highend and am seriously considering getting it. Any more feedback to give on it? How would you describe the sound it gives? How does it go with your system and what's it like in comparison to others you've owned/listened to? At the price we're talking about I'm sorely tempted but just need that little extra push ;)

    Thanks in advance,
    Owain

They shipped mine the day after I placed the order... before the payment had even cleared ! :smashin:
Arrived 4 days after order in perfect condition..

Welcome to the club Charlie.. you might want to book a few days off work for when she arrives.. ;)

    ( I'm not kidding either, I needed a full week :D )

    Owain...

I'd describe the sound as totally honest, very detailed with enourmous scale and weight..

Direct comparisons are hard to make, they're so much better than anything I've heard before..
(This includes a £1000+ Chord amp I listened to when demo-ing my speakers, which sounded like a toy in comparison to what I have now)

I listen to all kinds of music, but if you're into stuff such as live Jazz/Blues recordings you'll simply be blown away.

Power wise...I'm driving Dynaudio 42s and the Aaron has such a grip on them it almost defies belief.. I've never seen a speaker cone move like this before, you'd almost swear the driver is being operated mechanically rather than magnetically..

I run with a Denon 3803, and for 2ch use an M-Audio 2496.. the sound from the analog's on the soundcard is simply awesome..

As I've said before, I'd now happily pay the full whack for one of these.

    I LOVE MY AARON(s) !! :zonked:

Nice one, thanks for the reponse, it's just the kind of thing I needed! I'm going to be running a pretty similar setup (yamaha processor as pre/surround amp with MAudio Revo for 2 channel). The speakers I'm using are DIY ones with peerless drivers so should be ok I think. Any way I'll let you know how I get on. Might end up upgrading the soundcard if the amp is that good, I'll have to see!

    Cheers,
    Owain

Funds where cleared this afternoon so should receive the amp soon. Hopefully if it sounds as good as you say & it looks I'll get another couple to run in a 7.1 system.

Well, I've taken the plunge, got my email with the payment instructions back today. Unfortunately its the weekend and RBS won't let me do a foreign transfer over the internet/phone. Did you guys have to go into your branch to make the payment? If you did, did they charge you for doing it?

    TIA

Well, I've wired the money across today, RBS charged me £25 but said it should be there tomorrow, the next cheapest option would take 6-10 working days - I'm just not that patient!

Can't wait for it to arrive, what seems to be the time from money clearing to getting your hands on the amp? Wonder if I've got any chance of having it for the weekend....

I'll post back when I've had a chance to demo it.

they actually shipped both of mine before the transfer had cleared..
In fact they shipped the second one the day I confirmed i wanted it, before i'd even made the transfer !! so it could turn up any time really..

They'll send you an Email with tracking details as soon as it has left their premises, they used UPS to ship my first and DPD for the second..

Total delivery time was 3 days in each case.. :)
