Disagree, in so much as it was an erratic series of posts concerning your Mercedes Benz car that isn't a Tesla and therefore doesn't fit in with the thread title.

It doesn't matter whether it has 1% or 98% commonality tbh, I wouldn't post about a VW Golf in a Audi forum for the same reason

I hope this means we can get back on track.

So I've done some 300 miles now in Kia (Yes we have named our Model X a silly name :)). I've been lucky enough to own/drive some really good cars, ranging from things like DC2 Integra-R which was essentially a track day machine and didn't even come with a stereo to the latest Lexus RX that so much soft leather everywhere it made me want to fall asleep whilst driving.....But I'm having a very hard time putting together enough superlatives to describe the breath of ability of our X.

For family duties the car is nearly perfect, hauls 6 people + 1 drive in comfort, loads of space, loads of gadgets, and the rear doors make managing a child seat so easy.

Yet show it a B road, give your right foot a good work out and all of a sudden it feels no bigger than my old BMW 335i. Infact it deals with pot-holes/adverse cambers much better than the BMW ever did. The steering is accurate, there is stupid amounts of grip out in any situation. It's genuinely a fun car to throw around the back roads, infact as the speed builds the ride just gets better and your confidence in the ability of the car to handle any road condition just grows. It's a complete contradiction to how I thought a SUV should behave on a B road, given it's 5 meters long, 2 meters wide and the best part of 2.3 tons!!

We committed to buying Kia before even sitting in one, I had no doubts it would be OK to drive given it's based on the Model S, but I didn't expect it to be so capable!!

The initial cost of purchase may have been astronomical but it's worth every single penny. The X would have been an impressive car coming from any of the big established brands, but for Tesla to produce something so capable after been in existence for not much longer than FaceBook it's an astounding achievement!!

Let's not forget in additional of been good to drive, and the falcon wing doors, it's got a huge front windscreen that extends to above your head, powered front doors that open/close for you, that 17inch touch screen with always on internet/free Spotify integration, more exterior sensors than a Mars rover, and the potential for full autonomous driving at some point!!!

Good work Tesla and Elon, I can count on one hand the times in life when I've received a product that exceeded the hype/anticipation, this is most most certainly one of those times (as you can probably tell given the number of !!! I've used). Kia will be with the family for a long time to come, that I'm sure about .

Shut up about your bloody Mercedes that isn't a Tesla. I get you're really excited about it and I'm pleased for you, but it's not a Tesla and never will be.

I asked you nicely to refrain from posting, so you ignored me and started to incite an argument aka flaming. Warning and points issued, next time this or something similar happens you may find your access restricted.

I picked up my model S last Friday. Having drove a Disco 4 for almost 5 years I can tell its going to take a bit of time to settle into the car. Its so low and I keep bumping my head as I lean forward to get a better view coming out of side roads.

The drive is very smooth and there is no lag when you accelerate, which is one of the things I hated most in autos. It is very wide and I haven't picked up the courage to go through width restriction barriers yet. I haven't bought a charger yet for home, but found that charging the car with the wire supplied is more than enough.

A couple of faults cropped up in the first few days. 1) the ac and fan stopped working, but started working again after an update on Friday night. 2) the washer wouldn't spray, this was fixed miraculously after I emailed the service team.

Overall I think its going to be a good car that will grow on me in the future.

You know what? I've never realised they were so wide as they don't look it on the road. My current A7 (not a Honda Jazz or Nissan ) is 75" wide and the Tesla S is 86". That's pretty huge as the A7 is not a small car.

You should have gone for the X :p.

The X makes a 911 look like a classic mini, but 900 miles in I've no issues with parking or negotiating B/unclassified roads. Absolutely loving our X it's by far the best and most capable car I've ever owned, I honestly cannot think of any other car I rather have on the driveway right now regardless of price :).

It's strange because when they're on the move they don't appear that big. I've passed an X in traffic...nice motors :)

There seems to be a problem with the air con after a week. May need to go back. Just waiting on the service centre to ring me on Monday.

    Hopefully I haven't got a problematic car.

Seems like a few owners on the Facebook group have also got various faults soon after delivery.

Touchwood ours has been prefect since delivery, 1000 miles covered now and loving the car more and more :).

Hope you haven't got a lemon.

Hope not either. I haven't got time to mess around with faults.

Had the car for a week and so far:

1, The fans stopped working on the first day. An overnight update fixed that.
    2. The washer didn't work. Found out it was something loose under the bonnet as it worked once the bonnet was open so just tightened all the connectors and that fixed the problem.
    3. Air con isn't cold
    or not working.
    4. Not that happy with the driver leather seat finishing. The part you sit on has three creases which I know will wear out over time quicker then the rest of the seat.

    I've only driven 235 miles.

It is big, 5 meter long, 2 meters wide. Same size as the new Discovery is virtually same size, even the Ford Edge is 2 meters wide.

The Model S is actually virtually the same size as the X, 2187mm width with mirror versus 2270, 4979mm length versus 5030mm, its the extra height that makes the difference. In isolation the X actually looks fairly compact.....compared to a Range Rover anyways :D

Tesla are selling the 60 to 75 battery upgrade at only $2000! I wonder when we will see the discount.

UK 60S have been able to 'upgrade' to 75S for £2K since Monday.

Tesla have also lowered the price of new 75S car :)
