Yeah the EV section might be a bit counter productive?
I agree, EV is the future. Perhaps they should have a Diesel section as (hopefully) those will be going the way of the dodo soon.
Would that include vans, buses and trucks?
Or only diesel cars driven by the general public?
I wonder when an electric articulated lorry will appear on the scene?
Well, the motoring forum is predominantly car-related, so I guess you can figure that one out.
Electric vans and buses are already in use, and lorries are in early trials:
Meet the whispering lorry: Mercedes-Benz's electric Urban eTruck
Had email to say our X should be ready for collection 20th of March, originally ordered 24th of June 2016!!
Still since we ordered the car
The specs have changed to include autopilot 2.0 hardware at no extra cost to us.
Our car should have the latest hardware changes in relation to more reliable falcon wing doors.
Option to retrofit 'bio defense mode' made available - which we have ordered.
Due to weak pound/charges in spec price of our car ordered today is £20k more expensive but we still pay original invoice price from summer 2016.
Superchargering is now 20p/kWh for new orders but we still get 'free for life' access.
Should avoid the new £310 for 5 years VED charge for £40k+ cars.
More by chance than planning we lucked out with ordering our Tesla when we did. Cannot wait for it arrive, due to some of the points above (mainly 'free for life' supercharging) this may be the car that stays in the family forever....We'll see, the Jag iPace looks really good, and depending if my wife can be persuade to chop in her combustion car for an all EV drive way, if not the X may have to make way for the Jag as early as next year!!!
I've always had a soft spot for Jag, my next car was going to be a XJ supersport before EVs came along and turned my view on cars upside down. Wife nearly bought an XE but the hybrid drive train of the Lexus won her over.... I will have one of these on the driveway by 2019/20 at the latest.
Good to hear you have a date!
I'm still over the moon with mine despite my failure before Christmas. Still the best thing ever and I can never get bored of the silence, comfort, ludicrous performance.
I did put it on a rolling road a couple of weeks ago. Was entertaining and interesting to say the least. A load of petrol heads attending the event had to pick their jaws off the floor. And having a car give full beans and not make any noise is the wierdest thing ever on a dyno!
Probably better to not trust some features entirely....Yet
Tesla Autopilot crash caught on dashcam shows how not to use the system

It's not yet supposed to manage temporary lane closures or roadworks. Simple case of the guy not using it as intended.
Tesla dropping the cheapest car, come mid-April the cheapest Tesla will be £68k!!!
Tesla is discontinuing its least expensive Model S with 60 kWh battery pack next month
Presumably to fire up interest in the Model 3 which may well be a bit more than the US advertised estimated cost in the U.K.! This way they can enter it as the cheapest Tesla at the price of the base S that is discontinued.
Cynical or maybe close to the truth? Surely they can't be saying nobody is buying the cheapest 60 KW version just before (well at least a year before) introducing the 'budget' Model 3? They may need to get rid of the current model with similar range to the incoming 3? Once the 3 is in that model may be difficult to shift anyway?
Not got a Tesla but I have got a Tesla!!!!... Behold the Mercedes B250e 99.8% Tesla. Only mercedes by body and not supercharge!!..
Why are they 99.8% Tesla?
I think it was a cheeky comment as they do share the same parts bin in certain areas like switches, buttons and control stalks
Tesla built it for merc! Battery, engine wiring charger etc. Only thing merc is the body interior. Prob more % merc but just messing around.
No it shares a lot more than that. Tesla do use Mercedes switches etc but the b250e shares a lot with Tesla.
It's just such a shame they crippled long distance with no fast charging on it But if you only need short distance stuff, great.
I guess it also makes more sense on the continent where three-phase power is more common. But being limited to 16A charge speed is criminal
Bloody hell mate that's my car! Not an issue with charging at all this end.
lol I guess you need to justify your purchase happy with mine!
You've confused me! Are you talking about the B-class Merc or something else?
What's there to be confused with?
So you've not got a Tesla but then you have a Tesla. Then you post the photos of the Merc. Then you say you don't have any issues charging, suggesting you are referring to the Mercedes that you would own. Then you say "that's my car!" with an element of surprise. Well, I thought it was all along!
I think you are over thinking things fella must be owning a Tesla that gets you uptight and stressed... should of got a Mercedes as it's built by Tesla by the way.! Lol..
Not stressed at all. Comfort of the electric drive train removes all notions of stress as you should know I just didn't get the photo you posted then said "it's my car" as if a ghost from the past Unless it was your fubar humour
Considering the long drives I do, a low range car + no fast charging means the Merc was not an option. At least a leaf charges fast if needed on longer journeys
Yeah it is my car and the fact that you went straight on the defensive about charging and being limited to 16A.. and you again mention charging.. Which is why I mentioned needing to justify a purchase. I could talk about the build quality being the reason I purchased the Mercedes over other cars cough (Tesla, leaf) but I'm to polite!! Lol
I don't see tfboy being on the defensive at all, he just mentioned something he didn't like about the charge rate. I don't see anybody trying to "justify a purchase".
Ok maybe you're right.
But his second reply was to say what it couldn't do or what it short falls were. If I have taken it the wrong way then I apologise sincerely. But need to say sometimes if there is nothing nice to say then don't say anything.
I must stress again I am Sorry if I have misread and come across wrong..!
No worries mate
I've not seen a B-class Merc in the flesh. Build quality probably is better than the Tesla
I'm not criticising the Merc's bad points, just wanted to point out why I chose the Tesla instead (call it justifying if you want). I needed the extra range as I often drive to South West France and Spain, so having to charge frequently and slowly means it's not viable for me. If I needed a second runabout car with no need for fast charging and could charge it overnight at home, I'd most definitely consider it
All......need I remind you of the thread title?
Please try to avoid unnecessary comments, it's primarily a Tesla owner/proposed owner's thread not MB, Nissan or any other brand for that matter.
Ok but it was a discussion about a tesla built car?
