I personally wouldn't go for an unknown brand of laptop, especially when there are others at a similar price from better known brands.

This was on the frontpage of Dabs.com Type 2BV1WS into the quicklinx.

Slightly cheaper similar specs from a better known brand (Acer).
I think there's probably even better bargains to be had out there.

Thanks for the link JSW ( & MonkeyDonkey) however most of the lappys on that site are creeping up in price a little, although thats not to say thaey don't represent good value.

Can I just add. With that processor and memory you might find XP runs like a bit of a dog. :(

lynx, a close friend of mine is selling his laptop, an Advent 5490 w/20GB HDD upgrade installed. It is about a year 1/2 old and has been effectively used as a desktop PC for the whole of that time.

I am building a replacement system for him so may be able to sell it on his behalf and use the funds for the new build. I believe he is after ~£450. Interested?

If you are, please advise as to the correct way to proceed.

    MuFu.

P.S. Further specs here. I can also provide closeup pics of it.

MuFu, thats a very tempting offer, however the lappy is not for my personal use so i would prefer the unit to be new ( for warranty ) . Once again your offer is appreciated, thanks. :)

Ps, i'll work on Mrs lynx to see if i can talk her into leting me get a lappy as i could do with another pc, if so i'll be back :)

Ok, no probs. I'll mention it to him anyway - the warranty may be transferable and I assume it is 3/5 years in length.

Maybe the case but laptops are notoriously known to be slower than desktops. :)
