Nexnix replied to my email very quickly a few weeks ago and I must say on the phone they are very knowledgeable.
I went to one of the Avforum' demo days they did a while ago on a Sunday and Russ was great.
They used to be business oriented, but they are now going consumer for home cinema stuff. Their demo room is very good.

They're fantastic, can't recommend them highly enough. They allowed me to return 2 plasma displays that I wasn't happy with before I finally settled on my Pioneer 433MXE, they were very helpful all along and frankly I wouldn't even dream of using anyone else for my next purchase.

    Cheers,
    Andy.

So whats the deal with the huge price difference between the Black and Silver models on Nexnix? And why does the Silver come with a scart whereas the Black comes with a component board?

    Thanks!

    Lydecker,
The black model is the commercial model and normally does not come with any board. I assume NEXNIX are doing a deal to include the component board.
The silver 'consumer' version usually comes with a scart board, unless as appears to be happening some internet dealers are taking the scart board away in an effort to reduce the price.

The silver version actually has a higher cost to the dealer in the first place, partly due to the scart inclusion, but probably also due to the fact that the screen has different emissions. And possibly due to the extra cost of the nice silver colour.

P.S. I was informed by a dealer regarding the different emissions.

Oooh - Many thanks for this info!

What exactly do you mean by the different emissions?

    Thanks!

Well I don't know much about it, but the radiation from the consumer one has to be restricted as it will be in a household situation, whereas most people will not normally be near the commercial one for a long period.
That said, Joe (one of the experts on the forum), has stated that in any case both emission levels are nothing to concern myself about.
So buy whichever one looks best, I'm only allowed silver !

I thought I'd better add my belated recommendation for NexNix. I bought a Fuji from them in January for what was the best price around at the time. It turned up less than 24 hours later. They also lent me an iScan Ultra to try out for only the cost of the postage.

I later had problems finding a stand for it (my 50" model uses the same stand as the 42", contrary to what the manual says) but they helped convince the distributors to sort it out. They even sent a guy out on a Saturday to convince me that the 42" stand would fit (I was a little paranoid).

I can't recommend them highly enough based on my experiences with them.

    Cheers,
    Ian.

The "emissions" are electromagnetic emissions i.e. the filter is there to stop the plasma from interfering with other electronic equipment. The commercial standard doesn't allow for equipment being installed within about 1.5m of the plasma whereas the home standard does. In real terms there is no more than a minor chance of the plasma actually interfering with anything. However, both Panasonic models have conformed to the home standard since generation 5.

The reason for the cost difference is purely down to the supply chain. The black one is sold through a commercial division of Panasonic and the silver one is sold through the Consumer side of Panasonic that we've all come to know and love! How they get away with it I don't know, but they do!!!

The latest trend is to buy commercial screens either from Panasonic Commercial or in Europe, and have silver bezels put on them.....

I got my Hitachi PMA400E from them a few months back. Very helpful and excellent service. I e-mailled Russell during the day and he telephoned me later that evening while I was driving home. I ended up talking plasmas with him for the whole 1/2 hours trip (hands free of course).

And he did do a demo for me on a Saturday, once I explained it was the only day I could come to see him. He was in the office doing paperwork and opened up just for me.

THanks. Sounds like they are very reliable. Now I just need to choose between the Panny and the Fujitsu and convince hubby that we need a plasma.
