I'm doing an install whereby I feel this could be the best amp for the budget I am given.
I thought the 3801 was slightly below par for Denon but hopefully the 3802 should make amends.

I've been using Denons in my own set up for a few years now first with the AVCA1D then the A1SE with great success.
Hopefully this 3802 will follow in the path of its big brothers and wont dissapoint.

It would be interesting to hear the views of anybody who has purchased one.

Someone on the forums should have one by now. Denon Are out of stock of most of their new AV gear, DVD players, amps etc. They are ordered up for several weeks in advance, and it seems to stay like this mpst of the year.

Seems they have a winner.

I assume it sounds very good then??
And what about DPL11, do you find that a lot better than the vanilla DPL as on the 3801??

I`ve had a 3802 for about 2 weeks and all i can say is superb in every way.

I think the biggest improvement is on the music side of things where it now is realy rather good, Also the Prologic 2 mode is excellent it realy does steer the signal to back left and right on both music and movies adding to TV or SKY viewing.

Cheers Carlos

Sorry to upset you Paul.d
I'm sure the 3801 is a fine piece of gear but having read several well written reviews suggesting that the A10SE (4800 in the states) was a far better all round performer (even though it lacks the extra two channels of amplification, and DTS ES Discrete).
I went and listened to both machines myself and I would have to say that I tend to agree.
The 3801 doesen't quite have the clarity and resolution that the A10SE does.
The 4802 also looks to be a promising machine albeit more expensive.

Are you mad, You are the only person I've heard of that has claimed it is not fantastic. I have a 3801 and think, along with most of the A.V experts, that it brilliant.

OK but what about the 3802, Carlos suggests it sounds better than the 3801

dpl2 is pretty good but on evita dvd it didnt seem to steer left and right that well

i got my 3801 for 569 from hotkit before they put the price up, it looked used when it came so after about 8mths of waiting for a gold machine, they swapped it for a 3802

Hi Guys,

I got my 3802 on Tuesday, and all i can say is that i'm very impressed, i demoed quite a few different options (under £1000 only) and this was the best one i heard, it even compared quite well to a £4500 Linn set up that i heard at a dealers in York.

I Watched Memphis bell the other night using DPL2 and it was excellent, especialy during the dog fight scenes, works well with CD's too. Of all the amps i heard, it seemed to handle music the best, except perhaps for the Arcam AVR100, but that has nowhere near as many toys!

I'm also using the new B&W 600 S3's (602.5 and LCR 60 front, 601 rears centre & sub to follow when funds allow), and although they're not run in yet, the sound is amazing, despite not having a sub at the moment.

If your bank manager will let you have one I definately recommend it! I was originally going to go for the 2801, which i could have got for £450, but decided to do without the sub for now so i could get a better amp which would hopefully last quite a few years.

Cheers,

Ian

Got mine a week ago for £630 to replace my Arcam AV50. The performance is a revelation. Superb!

Anyone want an Arcam Pro Logic amp? I have the receipt for £700. Richers have one for £300 second hand. Mine's in mint condition.

Offers?

4802? I've not heard of that one. Any news on it - what's it got over the 3802, which I'm considering buying very shortly. Any online previews etc.?

T-force,

The 4802 is the american version of the AVC11 (the A10se replacement).

Specs etc can be found at Denon USA www.denon.com

There are also previous posts on it in this forum.

cheers
