I see that you are the highest bidder. Worried that you may be stuck with it :D

    Hehe,

Some sucker paid £450 for it... LOL

I sold my MC1 earlier this year and replaced it with an Pioneer AX3 and was amazed at how far processing has come on in the 4 years since the MC1 was introduced, never mind the very old (in AV term) DC1.
Basically the AX3 beats the MC1 in surround and it only cost £599!

So you had a lucky escape there.

The only Lexicons really to lust after now are the MC5 and 8

    Errrrm............. what's an MC5?

In regards to your integrated amp sounding better than an MC-1, I am very dubious about that. Obviously, depending on which amp you used with the MC-1, you would get varying results. But keep in mind, when you come to upgrading your integrated amp, you will have less choices than with separates and no matter how dated the MC-1 is, I've yet to hear an integrated unit that even comes close to revealing the same level of detail in movies (I've owned a number of int amps inc AV1SR)!

Have to agree there, I had a DC-1 with the upgraded dacs and that was alot better than my Denon A1-SE, and it allowed me to afford a meridian processor after that, and then a Cinepro 3k6 power amp, and now a Lexicon MC8B.

Sorry, my bad. I did of course mean the MC8. The MC5 is a secret model that only the absent minded know about.

I've owned both the DC1 and MC1, if you do a quick search on here you will see some discussion I made about the performance etc. I'm pretty sure I've conversed with gizlaroc on the DC1 as well.

With the DC1 I used Cambridge Audio P500 power amps and with the MC1 I used the P500's for a short while and then got a very good deal on a second hand Chord power amp can't remember the model number and it 1998/9 model so it was oldish. But its performance on 2 channel was good.

Your arguments regarding MC1 vs. integrated are as equally valid as mine, afterall our ears never lie but the subjectives do differ from person to person.

I'd have to agree with Jimmy & Gizlaroc. I demo'd an ax10 with a view to upgrading my dc1 v4 and came to the view that the Lex was in a different class although the Pioneer was just using it's onboard amplification. I did briefly use the Lex piped through the amps on a Denon 3802 when I first got it and it was a huge improvement over the processing of the Denon even though it was considerably older. Class is permanent as they say!! :D

The MC5 were a 60's Detroit based rock band...loud as hell and defiantly into sex, drugs and rock'n roll :D
