    Hi there

I see that the Atlantic Shop are selling the HD-E1 for £330, I was wondering whether anybody had bought from these people in the past and whether they are reputable?

They appear to be part of the Scottich & Southern Energy Group who I must admit I've never heard of!!

Any info much appreciated.............and Merry Xmas!!!

Not bought anything from them, but my Dad works for SSE, they are a very large concern so I can't see there being any problems.

The company was formed following the merger of Scottish Hydro Electric and the Southern Electricity Board.

I'll have to speak to my Dad now to see how much staff discount he can wrangle for me.

I've been having great difficulty getting into the Home Page of that company for as few days, which doesn't fill me with confidence.

I've found in the past that if something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

More worringly, do a search on YAHOO! 'atlantic shop'. Then click on 'More pages from this site'. It looks like the only pages which exist are the homepage and the page for the E-1. VERY STRANGE!

Do they have a 'phone number?

I suppose if I order via credit card I'm protected, and the card company will cough up if I don't get the player - is this right?

0845 609 0022 thats there phone number that I found on the site.

The atlantic shops address is www.hienergyshop.co.uk :smashin:

By the way pecker where is the direct link from the S&SE site? I can only find one to the hydro shop. However, on the hydro shop, it mentions the atlantic shop in the small print at the bottom of the page, as its part of the group.

Looks to me as if it is legit

"Scottish Hydro Electric, thehydroshop, theswalecshop, thesouthernshop and theatlanticshop are trading names of SSE Retail Limited which is part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group"

I put in 'Atlantic Shop' at Yahoo! and searched the UK.

Look at the top 2 results and you'll see what I mean - the 'theatlanticshop.co.uk' links sometimes work and sometimes don't, but the only 2 results are the home page and the E-1, which is what concerned me.

Sorry for the panic - best 'heads up' for a price I've seen in ages! :D

The pic on the site though is of the XE1 :suicide:

I will try buying one from them in a few weeks, but I still don't know why it is so cheap. I will try ringing them sometime.

I looked at the Atlantic site this morning and it didn't seem to work properly. It also looked different to the Swalec, Scottish Power and other sister sites, which made me a little suspicious (always the sceptic!)

Just tried again and all the sites are now all identical....except for one important detail: The E1 is still listed at £322 on the Atlantic site and £499 on the others.

Anyway, I've bitten the bullet and ordered a player. Just had the confirmation e-mail, price IS £322 plus £8 postage, delivery in 3 to 5 working days.

I would imagine the price would be brought into line with the other sites at some time as it is probably wrong, so it might be best to get an order in quick!

I saw the price hike earlier but didn't want to upset you. But even the new price is a good 'un.

I will report back when I receive mine, trouble is I work away from home, so if it doesn't come before the weekend, I won't see it 'till next weekend!

Never mind, I just ordered an XBox360 HD drive from Dabs as well, they claim to have stock! PC drivers installed and waiting!
