The subject DVHS recorder records MPEG2 to tape and plays back an excellent reproduction of digital video from its integrated Dish Network receiver. It has a "future expansion slot" that I understand was for 1394 firewire support. However, this hasn't occurred to date and I've heard that JVC has discontinued the recorder.

I'm wondering if anyone subscribing to this forum is familiar with the machine and can address how to get DV into or out of the machine. I'm not beyond buying a DVD recorder if I could get the MPEG2 file out somehow and onto a DVD-R or DVD-RAM.

    Thanks
