£2499.95 at avland.co.uk ! I thought it was going to be closer to £3000 at release from what I have read on the forum.

yes you are being silly

1080 would require 1920 x 1080 screen (mostly confined to LCD)

This lucks like the dogs danglies - is it? It sounds like a big step on from the PV500 but I'm no expert. This might just be the plasma I have been waiting for - can anyone see any drawbacks with it from a specification perspective?

At £2,499 is seems a steal - and will surely prompt some serious price cuts across the other models.

If £2,499 proves to be the correct price for this beauty, then my well-earned cash has found a new home :D

I'm sure this will be a PV500 and 435XDE killer, but there are many new Plasma, LCD, and DLP sets on the horizon. The Panasonic PWD8 & PHD8 panels are getting good previews.

There's too much choice. I'm dying to see the back of my 32" CRT.

    Yes, I get £3399.95 at http://www.avland.co.uk/pioneer/pdp506xde/pdp506xde.htm

So £2499 for the 436 seems more like it, rather than the £3299 that I get when i click it. Very strange.

I was literally about to order one of the lat remaining 435XDE's I could find in the web for £2300.

At £2499 for the 436XDE, shall I gamble and wait, or grab a 435????? I can't afford to go over £2500 you see.

It'll be years before JL have one of these beauties for me to try and price match so how much of an issue do people feel that just a standard 1 year warranty is? Has anyone any experience of buying them direct from insurance companies?

This could well be getting my vote at this price!

Ive been told they ship with 3 yrs gtee from works dealers so good news.
The black issue which plagued the 435 has been addressed, and seemingly sport now looks on par with the panny if not better .

The aggressive pricing is to line in with other manufacturers, as they no longer are the only hd ready set, also they are tied in with nec and have to shift more units.

Its good news for us if indeed they deliver ................

You get a 2 year warranty on Pioneer plasmas as AvLand is a 'Works' dealer.

Also note that avland sells almost everything at SRP - £2500 making perfect sense for the 436 to compete head-to-head with the PV500..

So the question is: does anyone know how quick off the mark avland are with stock and pre-orders?

Until you can actually take delivery at that price, it's vapourware. However, I'd snap their hands off if they can sell at that price!

Just checked avland.co.uk here at home, and yes, it's on pre-order for £2499!! My work PC must have cached an old page.

If avland.co.uk quote a pre-order price of £2499, and I put in a pre-order, are they obliged to sell it to me at that price, or could they bump it up?

I was just about to post the same thing. If you pre-order it at that price then do they have to honour it ?

If that is the starting price, you could really get yourself a good deal a few months after it is launched if the PV500 is anything to go by ?

It was on demo when Wimbledon was on!

I never seen it but (not my words) it is fantastic with sport & blacks.

This was done behind closed doors (found out today)

I have just sold my 505XDE as it did'nt do what i wanted, ive ordered a 506 because i beleive it will.

    Statements from a dealer.

I paid £4800 for my 505 and have openly admitted my disappointment , so i have always been honest in my assessments, i was very pro pv500 before it was released but i think the Pioneer will take the next crown.

    The King is dead...............................

Its not a mirage, this is the way things are going, if you look back through the posts you will see this was predicted by Gizlaroc and myself.

Woohoo! I'm starting to feel like I've won the "buy the current model now, then regret it when the new models come in, or wait and see, and never actually get one" game for once!!

    Do we really think September?
