Any tips on ad blocking, please?

Just over a month in to using a new Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) which is basically a really nice piece of kit, except for popup ads which seem to sense when they will cause maximum annoyance before revealing themselves. I have tried to restrict the amount of Google apps in use and I am currently using Firefox as my browser. Adblocker is installed but there are still far too many popup ads appearing for my comfort. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I use Adware app. It works pretty good.

You can use a Raspberry Pi to run Pi-hole. This will block ads at DNS level if you change a couple of settings on your router.
There are ways to use it outside of your home LAN too.
