Those of you who follow the Hardware Classified Ads will know that I've just agreed to buy Diabolik's Arcam FMJ DV27a. The way my luck has been going lately the player will probably be hit by a meteorite and destroyed before I can collect it :( but assuming that doesn't happen :) I'm looking forward to testing out its DVD-Audio capabilities. I reckon using my Bryston SP1.7 as a 5.1-channel pre-amp into Bryston 9B-ST, B&W Nautilus HTM1/803 speakers and a Paradigm Servo 15 should sound pretty good! :smashin:

So, I'd like some suggestions of recordings that really show off what DVD-Audio is capable of, something that simply cannot sound that good on CD. I like classical music, but within that my tastes are pretty wide-ranging.

What ought I to listen to?

    Hi Nic,

I can really recommend Wagner Overtures and Preludes purely for the dynamics which simply aren't possible from a cd.

Avoid Holst The Planets (Naxos) must have been recorded at a very low level as I have to turn the SP1.7 volume to max. :thumbsdow
