Hi everyone, we're considering going camping next weekend in the West Country. Haven't done this for many years, can anyone tell me if we'll be able to just 'turn up' or do you need to book these days? Just three adults and two kids for a long weekend?

When I saw the subject line I immediately thought of Dale Winton's home page

No Dale Winton jokes that is Ronsealmanism!

    Damn just did another

This is a good site - stayed there twice, can't go this year as all the electric hook up van spots are full for the summer holiday - booked for 2006 though

Get there early and you should be fine as campers cannot pre book.

    Plenty of good reviews.

Go to UK Campsite and have a peek there. They have reviews of most of the campsites and a good search facility to narrow your choice down :smashin:

I'd recommend Mother Ivy's Bay campsite near Padstow in North Cornwall. I stayed there in June 1997 and it was lovely. The campsite is on a cliff that overlooks a private beach. The beach can only be used by campers. The campsite has all amenities that you'd want (hot water, showers, shop, electrical hookups etc). If you get good weather it'll be perfect for you.

EDIT: just found a link: http://www.ukcampsite.com/west-country/mother-iveys-bay-caravan-park.htm

ANOTHER EDIT: the campsite caters for both caravans and tents....
