    Planned spending is rapidly escalating way beyond initial budget......

    Has anyone got or seen the Tosh MT8. Specs make it sound like a cut price (!) alternative to the Sim2 HT300.

    Runco have a DLP PJ at the same sort of price, anyone seen that?

    Cheers
    Rob.

    More like a cut price Ht300+...

    Differences I see from the specs;

    MT8/7200 vs. HT300+

    Both have Ti HD2 DLP widescreen panel
    Both have Faroudja deinterlacer/scaler (possibly even better on the Tosh/Infocus)

    MT8 gains on;
    -less fan/colour wheel noise
    -gains a DVI input
    -only £5995 list price and possibly cheaper.

    but loses out on;
    -no motorized zoom
    -no motorized focus
    -no lens shift, could make installation harder
    -no 'remote interface' to increase inputs and simplify installation.
    -no 'cool' designer italian case (dubious merit for the HT300+)

    As the HT300+ is listed at around £9000 I don't believe the latter are worth the extra £3000...for that I'll get out of my seat and adjust the focus/zoom!

    Sadly even though Toshiba claim that they have sent out units to dealers I've yet to find anyone who has seen one, but the real proof of the MT8 will be seeing one, especially if it could be viewed against a Sim2.

    Regards,
    Ian Guinan

    I think I read over at avsforum that it was a clone or at least very similar to the Infocus Screenplay 7200 if that's any help at all.

    I've seen varying reports on the 7200 going from 'wow' to 'disapointed', over at avs, so you'd need to demo it against some other pjs to get a better idea of how it performs I would think.

    HTH

    Gary.
