    Hi Everyone
Recently bought Sony hs20 and i am using it with a progressive scan dvd player. I am pleased with the picture. However i am intrested in comments from anyone who has seen an HDMI dvd player working with this projector. I was considering the pioneer 868 or 668 but availability seems poor and where do you buy the cables. I am only intrested as HDMI is supposed to give a better picture and better resolution.

    Regards

    Jas

    Jas,

Did you go fo a HDMI player?

I'm about to but a HS20 (probably), and was also wondering what DVD player to get for it.

I'm hoping to get a decent HDMI player with the money from selling my 10HT!

Here you can find an updated (01-15-04) list of DVD players with HDMI output.

I quite like the look of the Pioneer HDMI players.

Is there any benefit of the 868AVi over the 668AV when connecting to the HS20?

It seems to me that the main advantages the 868 has are i.LINK (no use to me) and being able to have output upsampled to 720P or 1080i over the HDMI output. I can't see that that would be any better than just sending 480P/575P & letting the HS20 do the scaling (therefore just scaling once).

    Any thoughts?

I think you're right Richard, the 868 makes most sense with 1280x720 native displays assuming TREX is better than the display's scaler.
