Many of the questions being asked here are of a similar nature being "How do I connect up my........." and I am sure that if we had a FAQ guide to connecting up everything it would cover most questions.

Whilst I answer quite a few questions on connecting up speakers, amps and DVD players etc I don't know much about projectors or plasma screens, very little about the newer types of digital connections and absolutely nothing about connecting in a PC to a sound system.

Are there any volunteers out there who can knock up a quick laymans guide to connections for us as I am sure that it would be of great benefit.

A FAQ section would help people like me greatly....

Especially if it was broken down into plain english, or it inlcuded a small paragraph or two on what certain terminologies meant. :)

I could probably do a few sections on the basic audio/video stuff or perhaps the more technical side. As with you though Ian, I can't do the more up to date video connections.

I've certainly not got time to do a complete FAQ I'm afraid though.

Maybe if a mod could put together a list of what the main FAQs are then either I or someone else could have a go at them. I can happily do some of the more technical stuff regarding cable construction although that's probably more suited to the DIY sections.

I think that it's much simpler what we need. The different types of connection and how they should be used. Conversion from RGB to component, scart splitters etc. Everything like that and I can assemble it all in one place with an index.

I think that Joe Fernand has covered loads of the stuff in various posts of his so perhaps I can try and find some of them and copy them over to the FAQ thread
