Having decided to invest in a DVD Recorder and reading lots about the RDXS32 I've decided to wait until the 34 is launched.

Does anyone have any news on when it will be in the UK and how much better will it be than the 32. Will it's model number be the same?

No info at present other than that which What Video has been broadcasting for ages: 250GB HDD, HDMI, Freeview with EPG. If you do a search you'll find info about the CES release - but that's for Japan so I wouldn't heed it. Odds are it will get a subtly different model number for UK release. Not long now though!

    Hi,

    No still no news.

What Video And Wide Screen did not have any information on the RDXS34 in this months issue 27 Jan 05. :thumbsdow

Hopefully we will get some news soon.

I will only buy if it has 250GIG HDD. If it only has 160GIG I will not get it and go for the Pioneer 920H

I"m on the waiting list as well, after having decided against the Sony 900/1000 because of their Analogue Tuner.
My only concern, as I've said in other threads, is if the Toshiba can deliver the quality that Sonys' machines have been praised for.
People might find looking further down for these 2 threads useful. They both have contibutions about the Toshiba.

I pre-ordered 1 through unbeatable about 3 weeks ago. They say they are expecting stock very soon.

When Toshiba told me there will not be any aailable in UK until late May 2005, I cancelled and ordered a Poneer 720

    dont hold your breath

btw Pioneer say spec is exactly as 32, but with 160Gb HDD

That's not quite true: the Pioneer lacks the sophisicated authoring options of the RDXS32, as well as component output, progressive scan and DVD-RAM recording. But it is still a very decent DVD recorder that you will not be disappointed with.

let me re-phrase (and correct!) :

Toshiba say the spec of the forthcoming RDXS34 will be exactly the same as the 32, but with a 160 Gb HDD.

Can anyone please advise definitively whether this machine has an EPG and Freeview?

    TIA

No it has neither of these.
Possibly a later model will have.

Thank you for the prompt reply. Someone earlier in this thread suggested it had Freeview with EPG.

What Video have been reporting it as being so equipped for the last 6 months. Either they were wrong or Toshiba will have another model out soon with these features. Frankly I'm not hopeful - only Sony seems to have invested the necessary cash in developing DVB DVD recorder :(

I thought the RDXS34 adds "free" TV Guide programming (as oppose to "fee" TIVO)?

Not in the UK (this is a UK based forum - the US version is www.avsforums.com).
