Cheapest place I think so far is from unbeatable.co.uk for £525. Wished I had waited my Panny E30 last Sept. cost me £420 might just have to buy a Tosh DVD Recorder or the replacement Panasonic HS2 which I am hoping will have a much lower RRP than the current HS2.

I don't think any magazine has had a proper review so far only previews of the new Tosh DVD Recorder.

I'm really keen to know if the Toshiba can be made multi-region, either through handset hack, disc or chip, and how long we'll have to wait until modded machines are available for sale at competitive prices.

There are four online retailers for the Tosh currently listed by pricerunner.co.uk, and I notice that the one that offered a multi-region option for an extra £20 IIRC has now dropped it.

I'd also been hoping we'd know something about the new Pioneer models by now - with these supporting DVD-RW instead of RAM.

Unbeatable now list the Toshiba as due in July.

Guess it's been pushed back. :(

Got a reply from Toshiba customer service this morning saying that the "model should be available from the beginning of next week". Thats the good news ... bad news is that they confirmed there is no component output and so no progressive scan (gutted).

They also e-mailed the full spec list - anyone wants it, let me know and I'll post it here.

If you could, Michael, that'd be great.

Otherwise an email to angeldvd@hotmail.com would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

No worries. If anyone has any details about a multi-region model I'd also appreciate it - my samsung 709 finally gave up on the weekend, and 28 Days Later is just sitting there taunting me now ...

Thanks for posting these specs Michael , i'm in the same boat as in wanting this or the HS2. Shame about the Component output but i think this still looks a better bet than the HS2.
