    Dear fellow forumers,

Any news on the new Kiss DP 550 recorder (with digital input, DiVx, CD-RW recording.....£400)? It has all gone quiet since an article in What TV last 2 month.

I've been trying to find out about it too, since the article in HCC.

On a couple of French websites it says it was going to be realled in May, this is obviously not the case.

There's still nothing on their website. I've tried writting to the contact e-mails on the website about the 550 but get no reply.

With all the interest I'm sure there will be for it, I don't understand why they're not shouting about the release date.

My only suggestion is that the DVD forum have got hold of them because of the piracy issues with the player, with digital audio in and component in. In theory you could make near perfect 5.1 copies of your DVD's.

I would be wary of purchasing this product.

I have a DP500 and am VERY dissapointed with the overall stability (full of bugs) of the product.

Mind you, same goes for the Pace twin!

I reckon u r correct about the DVD forum. I did send a email out but no reponse......Despite its probs with "legacy bugs" it going to be a seriously hot product (if there are no cut-backs)!!!

Has everyone seen this brochure for the 550 and 600 (80Gb HDD)?

    http://www.3dlogistics.ie/kissprod/kissdvd.pdf

Doesn't say anything about a digital sound input, but the 550 and 600 have a 'PC-Link' to enable you to 'play your movies from your PC to your DVD player'...

Brilliant stuff!!! On the subject of digit-input...they must have got "bush-wacked" by the powers that be. Most disappointing. But at least I have seen some component...good. Goes well with my Yamaha 630se and HDD version..good....

Now for the decent price of £400 (non-HDD) as published in certain articles.

I don't know about the digital sound input - maybe it's incorporated in the 'PC Link'.
