    Hi

My old TV broke and I am looking for something bigger and better.

My chioce just now would be the Toshiba or the Samsung 46" DLP sets.

I have read a few posts saying that if we wait there will be better and cheaper models coming.

Does anyone know any timescales, are there any due for release in the next month or two.

I am going to have to take the plunge soon, but have been hanging about for a month or two, but it still seems the usual suspects being discussed here.

I am not looking to go above 46" or about £1800, but am really keen to be HD enabled because it will be a while before i can again persuade my wife that £2K for a telly is a goog idea

    Cheers

    John

I have been reading this forum for about 6 weeks, not every post granted.

I may have missed specific model details. The only ones I have noticed were in the US and big.

    Cheers

If you want to find out about any model just do a search for it on the search box at the top right of the screen.

If not try the sticky on DLP problems.

    Thanks

But that was sort of my point. I have not heard of any sets that are due out in the near future. No idea what model numbers to search on.

As I say I have not read all posts, but have been ttrying to keep up to date to see what was on the horizon.

    Cheers

    John

There are new versions of DLP like IDLA or something like that from Sony etc but you budget wont reach to them when they become available at first.
Oh! and neither will mine :(

There are some 1080p DLP sets from Samsung due out in america in a couple of months, but it's anyone's guess when we'll see them here. In fact, it's anyone's guess if we'll see them here.

    Joh

What I was trying to say was there are no new DLP sets I know of planned for release in the next 3 months. Only a small percentage of sets from the US will filter out to the UK. If you want to find out about current sets then do a search on the model numbers.

I hope that was a bit clearer :)

I have heard that they will be including a manual with this model. However there wont be a remote control and the set wont be able to display BBC1, BBC2 & ITV. Instead it has been specially tuned for channel 5 as the Optoma field tester loves 'Family Affairs'.

The three new Toshibas, previously mentioned, also have the HD4 chip but the announcement doesnt mention anything about a native resolution of 1920x1080.
