Just upgraded the soft/firm wares in my dv27 and now have progressive output of a sort ... (see attachment) ...

Any ideas if it's a player (not outputting correctly) or a screen (doesn't do progressive) problem ??

    cheers

    Jon

What you are seeing here is a progressive signal being sent to a device that cannot sync correctly to such a scan rate. Is this a PAL progressive signal? If so have you checked that your plasma can accept a 720x576P signal at 50Hz? Also is it being sent YPrPb or RGB?

You could try the RGsB option. I've found some plasma's wont accept prog pal in component but will in RGsB....

    Hope this is some use.

Gordon - thanks for the comments ...

To try and get further through this ...

the shot was taken from an ntsc prog output using the YPrPb outputs on the prog board on the dv27 ...

I'm asking a dealer about whether the orion vision can accept prog inputs ...

i get the same on a pal prog output ...

arcam suggest using a composite video signal as sync from the component rgb outputs ... but would this work if there is no sync imput to the plasma ?

if I set sync on G (arcam dvd seting) would I use the RGB (component) or the YPrPB (prog) outputs .. ??

Sorry if this is a little basic but the manual is very light on this for the plasma or the dvd ...

    TIA

    Jon

OK looks like your plasma doesn't accept progressive inputs.

If it's doing that with YPrPb NTSC progressive out then I doubt sending a composite signal to it at same time will help.....

The last ditch attempt would be to set the Arcam DVD to put sync on green. Then in Arcam set up menu set HIQ output to RGB and feed this to the RGB input or PC input of plasma. I would expect the thing to sync to NTSC this way but you may have problems with PAL.

I assume that the 'sync on green' option can be enabled for ntsc and/or pal from the '2001' backdoor ??

should i send this feed from the prog board outputs or the RGB outputs ?? (They are separate on the dv27) ??

You must always use the progressive output sockets. You are correct in your other assumption.
