    Hi,

I haven't played much over the last year or so, but really enjoyed Half Life 2, GTA SA and Hitman Contracts.... any others in these genres that I should check out? I see the next Hitman release has been delayed until next April, and no new GTA games on the horizon...

    thanks

GTA game coming out on the PSP soon.

Did you miss far cry? A stonker of a game in anyone's book. What about SWAT 4? That is also superb!

Not played Hitman but isn't Thief the Deadly Shadows that sort of game although in an other time setting?

Oh yes, I did play Far Cry - very good, is there a sequel?
Don't want a PSP, would rather upgrade my graphics card (9800 pro),
Will have a look at Thief Deadly Shadows - thanks :)
    Any more?

All 3 splinter cell's for the win IMO, truely amazing especially the 3rd game :) makes Hitman look awful IMO but My opinion is biased as i love these games :D

Doom 3 may float your boat even though i hated it

rumours floating there is some sort of expansion pack coming out with a sequel not far as well. again this is just speculation but its safe to say there will at some point be a far cry 2 as the first is the best FPS in the past couple of years imo.

Chronicles of riddick probably the best movie game spin off ever and its just totally immersive experience. only bad point it was slightly to short but well well worth getting

    Battlefield 2 :)

also give F.E.A.R the demo a try its out soon :)

all i can think of off hand

    SC3 for a tenner is a no brainer :D

£150 may get you a second hand 6800GT or X800XL depending on your company preference or if you dont like that idea then 6600GT can be had for under £150

Funnily enough I have the 6600GT in my HTPC and it does run games better than the 9800 pro - not really practical to keep swapping it out when I want to play at the desk though!

An X800XT has been suggested on another forum, I wanted to switch back to Nvidia, as this 9800 pro is the first ATI card I have had, and I never really liked it. However, in bang for buck comparisons this x800XT thing looks quite good.

    Any thoughts?

x800XT is a very very nice card and you could do alot worse but ive never seen it priced close to £150 what so ever. if you can get that or a 6800ultra (i have this and i adore it) then thats great news

Ok thanks, I may wait a month (got some essays to complete) and see if the price drops at all, is the 6800 ultra higher spec than the 6800gt?

indeed it is clock speeds are higher on the ultra. i went from a GT to ultra in fact. you will get the people coming in now telling you and i quote 'you must get the 6800Gt and overclock it to ultra speeds' they do clock to ultra speeds nicely i hear but im not an OC'in freak :D

    GT speeds are about :

    350MHz Clock speed
    1000MHz DDR3 memory

    Ultra :

    400MHz+ Clock speed
    1200MHz DDR3 memory

You wont get an X800 XT for £150

Just looked and a plain X800 is about £140 inc VAT

Ok, thanks for all the help. I think I will hang out a bit for a 6800 GT or Ultra, for no other reason than brand loyalty and knowing my way around the drivers!

This is the link that was posted on the other forum for the X800 XT (PE platinum?)
