The Elfstones of Shannara is due to be finished this year I believe. Not sure on the release date though. I cannot wait for this one. I hope they make a good job of it. They are going to need some serious cash thrown at it though as it is very action packed with large scale battles in it. I have read most of the Shannara books and loved them. I cant find much details on the movie though. :(

I've read that too. Great fantasy book.
What I would really like to see is a live action movie (not a cartoon) of the Dragonlance Chronicles by Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman starting with Dragons of Autumn Twilight.
Dragons of Autumn Twilight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fingers crossed for the Shannara movie!

That is a book which would take some serious money and stunning direction to do it Justice. Shame I can't see it happening. The Feist books are my all time favorite fantasy series. No one else has managed to keep a story arc going so convincingly for so long. IMHO of course. :D

Not sure anybody here cares about what you've had enough of. You may want to start another thread, it's pretty pointless going off topic on this thread.

IMDb have a release date for The Hobbit as 2012. Wikipedia says December 2011 for the first movie and December 2012 for the second movie.

There is definately not too many Fantasy films. It's one genre that has been very under used due to it's 'nerdy' reputation. It's only really been taken seriously as a genre since the success of the LOTR. Prior to that it has never been given the respect it deserves IMO and most Fantasy films were terrible.

Since fantasy and sci-fi are often linked together it's hardly going off-topic to offer an opinion is it ?

enough, eek! what is the meaning of this word - enough! :thumbsdow

Nope, sorry IMO you can never have enough fantasy. I grew up on whatever fantasy you could get your hands on:

    • KRULL
    • Legend
    • Conan
    • Labyrinth
    • Dark Crystal
    • Never Ending Story
    • Beast Master
    • Red Sonja
    • Willow
    • Lady Hawke
    • Clash of the Titans
    • Sinbad

Fantasy life is sooo much better these days - well in terms of visuals anyway - LOTRs anyone.

    Ian.
