I've never had to pay anything extra - but I've never ordered any box sets or anything of large value from there. When I've ordered a few DVDs at a time they have always despatched them separately to keep the value of the item down I assume

Just to let you know that while there are no charges for any disk that is worth less than £18, anything more can be subject to VAT on the whole amount and then a Consignia fee before the postman will deliver it.

If seems to be luck that decides if you will get spotted as this year I got Buffy no probs but on Oz I had to pay £9 and I know others who had to pay the same on Buffy.

Play allways put the offical price on the front of their packages but I know that a few other sites will put £18 on any packages as long as it is a single disk.

Movietyme are quite good for that.

Not if it's shipped within Europe. Play R1s ship from Belgium.

i ordered something for £40 from play.com and it says on the front if the package 'UK import VAT payed, Jersey Post' i think this means that you dont have to pay any charges as play.com have already done so (if they have to).

I ordered the ET box set from play and I had to pay a charge. I think it was about £11 which was fair enough as they do mention this on their site and the package was a fair old lump.
