I can buy an 8-channel professional Chord amplifier and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the brand. I am planning to use it with MartinLogan speakers and a Lexicon MC-12 pre/pro.

    Thanks for any comments!

Garmtz - I have three Chord amps which I use to drive Kef Reference (current range). I wouldn't even consider changing either the speakers or the amps, so I guess they're quite convincing...

They are fantastic i use a 3200 pre with ATC active speakers.

I also use a 5 chanel SPM1900 in the cinema system.
I have friends who use the SPM1200C with passive ATC's.
I have listened to many power amps inc. silly american stuff krell etc
Conclusion value for money the best sound there is just check out the professional

The SPA 2464 turned out to be a dud, as it was never designed to drive 4 pairs of speakers (1 pair instead, with a minimum 8 Ohm impedance). I found out when I connected all my Logans... With two speakers connected though, I couldn't believe how 'real' the sound was. Singers are there, right in front of you, the sound has an extremely transparant and pure character and they sound so effortless, you could swear there are a million watts at tap.

Anyhow, I was hooked with the 'sound' (IS there any?) of the Chord, so I got my money back and now have just bought a used SPM 1200E for 3300 Euros. I will receive it in the next few weeks. Will keep you all posted.

I have had the SPM 1200E in my system for a few weeks now and must say it is BRILLIANT! There is really nothing about the amp that I can criticise, the sound is just PERFECT: transparant, fast, dynamic, effortless, musically convincing, sweet... etc.

It is a great amp i spent along time auditioning that amp before i decided it was out my price range so i went for its younger brother the 1200c.
The build quailty of the 1200E is amazing and i love the blue lighting on the amp. It is the best amp i have heard period. Everything with that amp is just so right. I can't imagine what chords higher end amps must sound like (dribbles)
