    Donos,

I like you have tried to find out some information upon the new 434HDE model, but have found nothing of substance really.

I have been led to believe that most of the differences will be in the connectivity / options within the Tuner box, perhaps offering DVI HDCP as a standard input?

Your best bet is to ask someone like Joe from The Media Factory (on forum) who would be best placed to advise.

    Donos,

Obviously Pioneer keeping tight lipped as they want to sell as many current HDE's as possibe.

Aother RUMOR I have just come across is that the new HDE will not be released until November time ????.

Please do post if you come across something more tangible !

    Hello both

I think Pioneer's silences is due to some last minute negations on the inclusion of the HDMI Digital inputs on the new Media Box and 2004 DVD line up.

I'll hopefully have an image to post later today of the new PDP-434HDE - its a mighty cool looking PlasmaTV.

The new model will be in the UK very soon - possibly late August I'm told and there are NOT lots of PDP-433HDE units to be discounted as they are in short supply at this time; so its going to be an orderly transition into the new HDE.

From looking at some guide specs I'd say that prospective 434HDE owners are now going to enjoy the better video processing already enjoyed by current MXE owners (with a small jump in some areas of the spec sheet) along with the convenience factors they are looking for in the HDE Media Box.

I believe the 434HDE and the 434MXE (not due for release until mid to late 2004) will use the same glass panel as found in the current 433 generation units with better video processing being the 'upgrades' in this move from 3rd to 4th generation Plasma from Pioneer.

    Best regards

    Joe

    Hello Geeseman

I'd doubt they will have that as an option.

I read the article in HCC covering CES, and according to the interviewee from Pioneer, the panel would be exactly the same as on the 433 and the only changes will be made to the tuner box.

That being the case, I'm assuming that the black levels will not change on the 'new' HDE..? I really like the contrast on the Panasonic but don't want to buy a low resolution display...

Does anyone know what improvements the 434MXE will have over the 434HDE..?

Still not convinced that now is the right time to get into plasma.!?

    What do you think..?

    Hello all

Joel - correct; the PDP-434HDE and PDP-434MXE (2004) will both use the same glass as per the current models; though as we see already with the current HDE and MXE models the video processing engine makes a big difference to the image quality.

If you look at pionner.co.jp you will see that they have had an HDE Advanced model for quite a while now with improved Black levels due to 'anti ghosting' technology - I believe this will also be the case with the 434HDE.

Other snippets I have on the new HDE are:
    1 Billion colours (where's StooMonster)
1024 Contrast ratio for both PAL and NTSC
100Hz replaced by a 75Hz Flicker free processor
10 Bit processing (catching up with the MXE)
New dark anti glare front screen
    New Blue phosphor

I think the HDE is going to now be on a par with the current MXE with the added convenience of the TV features (PnP, Teletext etc) along with the HDMI HDCP inputs for future generation DVD players.

    Best regards

    Joe

    SimonO,

I dont think anyone has much of an idea of 434MXE Spec, we have bery little definative on the 434HDE and thats imminent !!.

With regard to Pioneer resolution Vs Panny Blacks, I think thats the choice most of us eventually have to make, but is very individual, its a difficuilt one granted !!. Have you viewed any as yet?

On Plasma as a whole the technology will always improve, just as technology does. I think you can continue to wait for the next best thing, in which case the wait could be some time, or buy the product which provides best performance today, but also protects your investment & allows easy upgradability.

What happened to the pictures of the 434HDE that Joe was hopefully going to post on 15/7/03?

Has anyone got a link to any pictures?

    Thanks ... Pat

The last picture shows how the NXT speakers are mounted; I believe they can also be mounted underneath!
