Any Arcam DV89 owners

Could you answer a question.

I`ve just been reading the specs on the Arcam site and it mentions that it delays the audio to match the progressive video signal.

Is this adjustable or defeatable as i would be passing other video signals through an Iscan Ultra and using the audio delay on my amp to match the signals ?

Also whats the layer change like ?

Cheers, Carl

I heaven't looked into it as yet but I suspect that the delay is not overideable as the player is not designed for using with other upscalers in mind. I can also say that the layer change is pretty slow, about 1 sec max, but at the end of the day if you are going to ultimately decide on a player on its layer change performance then why bother asking any other questions.

not sure about the 89 but the 88+ you can select the audio if its interlased output. auto selects when you choose prog scan. i think its set to 40 ms.

With the new version of the software for the DV89 there are two adjustable audio delay facilities ... one for PAL, one for NTSC ...

Have a look in the Arcam forum for more info ... http://www.avforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=119

And speak to your dealer about getting your player software updated ...

Carlos - the audio delay is defeatable - and on the latest SW is variable from 0 - 150 milliseconds with different delays programmable for 525/50 and 625/60 sources. As far as I know this is a world first. The new delay manager is applicable to all current Arcam DVD players (DV78/88Plus/89/27A) - i.e. any with a Zoran Vaddis 5 processor.

Please talk to your dealer if you want this player SW.

Hi jmack - yes it does work with interlaced video so you can use it with devices like the i-scan ultra - that was one of the reasons for doing it :)
