I am about to sell my Sony 1070 and want to buy a replacement at £500 - £600 but it must be silver. I have a very tolerant wife but I think that if I try to put a gold amp in my silver rack next to my silver DVD player it may well be the last straw.

Everything seems to be gold or black and I can't find anything (that doesn't require a second mortgage) in silver.

    Any ideas anyone ?

    Hi

I think Onkyo do silver amps/receivers or how about Arcam? Might be a bit over your budget though.

Arcam defo do silver. Domestic blis always has to be a priority but sometimes it can be hard, but I have asked the other half on her opinion on this and she says if its black and neaer the floor, (which mine is) it maybe not so much of a problem. Her point was if the rack has silver and black stripes I can forget it.

    Might be worth a try.

I have never been that worried about colour before but having renewed a lot in 2001 I now have a silver JVC television with a silver DVD player underneath and a white Def Tech speaker on top. Next to it is a glass and chrome two shelf rack currently housing a silver Sony amp and silver VCR.

Gold would stick out like a sore thumb.

I am supposed to be working from home today but have spent almost all day online trying to find a silver amp and Jase's suggestion of Onkyo is all that I have managed to confirm.

It would be nice to have had at least two to pick from but as my Def Tech Pro Cinema speakers are going next I don't want to bash the budget too much on the amp.

I was thinking of getting the 1070, i've got the 930 in silver. Why do you want to replace it? Is it BLK? If it's silver i might buy it where do you live?

That would go very nicely with the Bose speakers that I am thinking of buying.

    Ian,
Check out the thread 'Leading Edge' in the dvd player section. A guy there mentions a company who import 'Silver' Yamaha amps.

    Sean,

You obviously haven't seen the Bang & Olufsen thread in General Hardware that eric and I both contributed to.

I think that the expression that you were looking for was fur coat, no knickers and an Audi TT

You can add Sherwood & Tag to the list, completely different ends of the price scale but silver nonetheless.

Hi guys. I'm over from the DVD forums.
I recently purchased a silver RXV-620 fro LEConcepts and it looks gorgeous. Does anyone know what country this was originally destined for?

BTW. The Silver version does not support Banana plugs despite what the website states.

Ian .... I am looking for a silver amp too. Have decided to go for a receiver as there are more in sliver eg Sony

JVC do a good selection and their top end receiver JVC RX_DP10R is THX certified. The specs look good but can't find a review on it.

Its silver and has a minimalistic look which I prefer.

    try http://www.jvc.co.uk

QED are selling this receiver for £718

    http://www.qed-uk.com/?psc=3&i=4CpkY0-MVq20&bg=212&bp=dp10s&v=8

I think this is the one I am going to get

Thanks everyone, I now have more than a choice of just one. I have had a look at the silver Yamaha 620 and it looks rather nice but I have another week to think about it until my turn comes up on Ebay.

Any further suggestions will be gratefully received.

    Ian,

Have a look at the new Pioneer Reciever VSX-D510 uk ... it comes in silver, has component video switching and 80w per channel.

Think it might give the Yamaha RX-V620RDS some competition

Techtronics are selling it for £234 http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/612-pioneer-vsx-d510s-receiver.html

NAD are selling a grey receiver (T761)which has had good reviews but is slightly more expensive. I think grey coordinates better with silver than black does

    http://www.avland.co.uk/nad/t761/index.htm

I can't make my mind up which one to go for

The NAD is certainly good especially with music the reviews have said but it should be at twice the price of the other products mentioned. You get what you pay for I suppose.

Thanks everyone - I managed to convince the boss that Champagne colour would be acceptable and have purchased a Marantz 6200 which arrives tomorrow.

I have sold my Sony and it is going this weekend, so much as I would have liked a silver Denon ( O damn they have sent the wrong colour, we might as well keep it now) any Denon seems to be rarer than hens teeth.
