How is this Speaker? The reviews are VERY favourable and the Speakers look brilliant.

    Ideas?

I heard them at the Bristol Show paired with Musical Fidelity disc spinner and amplification and was completely blown away by their rendition of One by Johnny Cash. The highest fidelity I have ever heard. Conversely, Ian J and Nobber22 were apparently less enthused by the combination. :)

Is the best way to test speakers to listen to something that you've heard ALOT?

Actually I find the best way to test any audio device is with things you do not know. When you play back things you do know you tend to have pre-conceived ideas as to how they should sound. Then on listening you don;t hear waht is actually be preplayed but what you think you should hear if that makes any sense. When you hear something new you don't hear it as is and consequently I find it simple to pick up differences in the performance of the music.

If you are willing to spend £2,400 on a pair of speakers then you have loads of alternatives to consider including models from PMC, Proac, Spendor, Ruark and Totem amongst others.

For 2400 quid, what would be my BEST choice?

I rarely listen to Music, I watch BBC News 24 and the occasional 5.1 Movie...

If it's cool you're after how about Waterfall see here at £2,000 for the 5.1 set - although I haven't heard them.

The problem with advising you is that most of us will have different priorities to yourself and if spending that sort of sum on a pair of speakers the sound quality would be paramount to most of us and not the looks.
