Anthony Gallo Nucleus Micro connection

I have 5 Anthony Gallo speakers which i'd like to hook up to my sony STR-DA2400. I read somewhere that:

'When wiring up your Nucleus Micro speakers, it is important that they are connected after the sub-woofer'

And:

' This ensures that they are protected by the 'high pass crossover' integral to the Anthony Gallo sub-woofers, preventing them from being damaged by frequencies below their 100Hz minimum'

Could someone please tell me if this is necessary? Can I just connect them to the amp? There is an option in the amp to specify the speaker size to 'small'. Would this protect the speakers in the same manner?

Thanks
