Really enjoyed this, I've got the 3D version, but if I see this at a good price I'll likely pick it up eventually. Good to see (hear) that the audio on this ticks the boxes, maybe Disney have finally got the message, or solved whatever issues they've had in the past.

Was very pleased with the vastly improved audio when I watched it Saturday evening and the HDR really made the Quantum Realm come alive.

Hopefully the audio improvements hang around for all future releases and that this isn't a one off but only time will tell.

Nicely done, Cas. Have been checking in and out of the site waiting for this. I already have it sitting at home waiting to be watched – good to know it's gonna be something to look forward to. Will post my thoughts once I've done that thing you do with the disc where you put it in a machine and watch what comes out.

Could not agree more about the bloke villain - he's awful, and was crap in Tomb Raider as well

It's a shame because I thought he was great in the excellent TV series Justified, but perhaps that's partly because of the writing and partly because the character suited the modern western vibe. He just appears to have replicated that persona in every other film he's been in, oddly repeatedly cast as a villain when in both Justified and his earlier role in The Shield, he was hardly a clear-cut (or particularly effective) bad guy, and more of a misguided rogue most of the time. I'm very surprised Tarantino has taken such a liking to him, and even more surprised that they cast him as a rogue Navy SEAL for his last (short-lived) TV foray.

On the other hand, I think he's perfectly cast as the weasely celebrity cop Jack Vincennes (previously played by Kevin Spacey) in the upcoming L.A. Confidential series, so would be interested to see how that pans out.

      Thanks for the review Cas.

That being said I liked this movie even better than the first one where many others don't like Ant-Man at all.
Not everything has to be Avengers style made and to me these "little" films fit nicely with the rest of the MCU so I don't agree with your conclusion of it.
The disc is very nice and have the US version for a couple of weeks now and it's highly recommended.

Great review Cas, I am glad the smaller players in the MCU seem to be getting decent sequels.
I certainly enjoyed Ant-Man and the refreshing way it did not take itself seriously.
If it’s more of the same and has Evangeline Lilly in a tight costume then count me in :D

I enjoyed this film a lot and that ending............... I wasn't expecting that at all, but by the time it happens you are half expecting something (or maybe I'm just thinking that after the fact). Anyway it had the desired effect. Very nice picture quality but I have yet to hear the sound.

Granted the mix for Infinity War was better than Thor and Black Panther but it still left much to be desired but with this release they are almost back to their pre-AoU standards, just hope they don't slip again.

Thanks Cas have watched this twice already, its the characters that make Ant man enjoyable, not as good as the first plot wise and could have done with a better villain, but very entertaining.

Agree with Cas on both audio and visual especially the audio which sounds amazing and looks great on the LG Oled

He was really good in The Hateful Eight. Tarantino just brings the best out of his actors.

Even channing tatum was almost half decent.

Quick bullet-point review after watching the disc last night...

      The good:
      • A decent disc with good images (still a long way off GOTG2 quality, mind) and excellent sound with some thrilling use of Atmos. Black levels could have been better. A small step up for Disney
      • SOME of the action sequences – especially the fight in the kitchen and the later car chase – made excellent use of the big/small mechanics
      • When the laughs hit, the quality and sustain on those laughs is high
      • Overall I'd say I was entertained throughout

      The bad:
      • Change of writing team (From Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish) has not served it well. A number of the jokes missed, for me, and much of the dialogue was uninspired to the point some of the performances felt half-**sed at times. Phoned in. Michael Peña saves the day here with easily the best comedy performance, and is responsible for about 80% of the film's laughs
      • This is Ant Man and the Wasp – was expecting a duo origin story, but rarely do the two of them team up to any great effect. Wasted opportunity
      • All the bad guys were s***. Didn't buy their motivations and felt like they only existed to get in the way or the film's central caper, which would have lasted all of 12 minutes without their narratively under-supported shenanigans. They were thin like a Japanese sliding wall... slightest prod and your finger goes straight through
      • Probably 30 minutes longer than it needed to be
      Video: 7/10
      Audio: 8/10
      Movie: 6/10

      Overall: 7/10

For 3D lovers, get this film in 3D! This film is the best advert for 3D! Absolutely reference quality!! Beautiful depth to the picture without being gimmicky.

As I'm saving the disc for Christmas I just stuck on the pre Marel titles and as you say it looked stunning in 3D an other reason to look forward to Christmas.
