    OK, my turn...

Bugged me for years this one....

Saw this in the early 70s

The scene I remember is (I think it was right at the beginning).

(Set in medieval times or poss. before)

A man/slave is killed by being tied between two horses which gallop off in opposite directions thus literally pulling him apart

Someone once said that it might be from The Long Ships .

Not sure, haven't seen it for a while and due to the sheer brutality of the scene, I wouldn't be surprised if it had been cut.

Anybody remember the scene or know much about the film The Long Ships?

    Cheers

    The Long Ships

There is a bit when heroes are in enemy territory and the have to nominate one of there own to go down a slide about 3 stories high which is really a big blade which be time the are half way down they are in two.
It is all about a quest to steal a very large golden bell.
Also there is a bit when the heroes are on a long ship and they are having a spot of bother and they blame it on the woman (nice bit of crumpet) that is with them on the ship and she has to be killed
SPOILER They cover in a large animal skin and drive a sword through it, and blood oozes out but it is a trick and they have killed a goat.
It was not as good as The Vikings but it is entertaining and should be dusted down and re-screened.

    Thanks Garrett

Wouldn't mind seeing this one again.

Don't think it's available on DVD (yet).

'The Mare of Steel'. Must be one of the most brutal scenes in cinema history!

The scene you are talking about is, I think, from the start of the film Genghis Khan (1965). A wildly inaccurate historical epic. It is where his father is torn apart in front of a young Temujin, before he was enslaved.

Sounds like it could be the one.

Only the facts were changed to protect the guilty.

From that story you would think Genghis Khan was all sweetness and light. And the film was show not too long since ie within the last 6 months.

    Hi,

Sounds like it could be "A Man Called Horse" or one of its two sequels (whose names escape me).

    See this link here.
