    Yes, original I know!

I have had home cinema for a few years, but with my old pioneer I ran with out a sub, and relied on my Mission m71's.

I have just upgraded the amp to the Yamaha 650, and have found the bass to be lacking, mainly on music, but also a little on movies. So I think now is the time to invest in a sub. Though not looking to spend more than £150. The sub would go behind a chair, and we have suspended floorboards. Would that make a downfirer a better option?

I never have the volume too loud, so the sub needs to add presence, rather than shake the sofa (and the neighbours)!!!

Does any of this seem achievable??!!

    cheers

You could get the Ruark Vita 50, which is the same as the M J Acoustics Pro 50, from bkelec for exactly your budget:

    http://www.bkelec.com/new/Special_Offers/sp8.htm

Have been thinking about splashing out on that one myself, to go with my Denon DM31 and old Mission 760i's...

be a little careful on that page. the pricetag right next to the 'buy' button is £149, but the actual price of the Vita 100 is £199. Still looks very reasonable for the money.

Anyone care to comment on how the Vitas (50 and 100) stand up to the XLS200 which is another £80 or so?

The "real" price is actually around £208m including UK P&P.

    That's a bit naughty isn't it? :lesson:

Think it's just genuine error, rather than intent to deceive - it does say £199.95 just above the 'Features'.

Sorry, wasn't suggesting anything other than honest mistake by the BK site!!!

They do indeed state the correct price at the top of the page. Personally I just had to click on 'buy' to find out if the real price is shown on the order page, which it is

Just thought I'd point it out, since it could easily confuse a stupid person (such as me)

    Don't apologise. :)

You were quite right to point out this error.

No doubt it will be swiftly corrected after the holidays. :nono:

Otherwise we'll want to know why!

    Won't we?

Thanks for the link, looks like a good option.

My local Hi-Fi shop was trying to sell me either a Yamaha or an Infinity Sub-woofer. Both about the £150-180 mark.

Is the Vita only available direct, or are they available via shops?

You may find the Vita in some shops but certainly not at that price. The rrp of the Vita 100 was £550 so it's a bargain at the BK Electronic price

    Sounds an excellent deal then!

I only have a small room, and looking more for the bass to add to music, do you think the vita 50 would suffice?

For the extra £50 the 100 is the better deal as its better to have the extra headroom than moving and having to upgrade as your sub cant cope. You can always turn the sub down anyway:D

Just ordered the Vita 100!

Hopefully will arrive by the end of the week! Great saving over the RRP.

Thanks for the advice. I will post my thoughts once set up.
