heres a story... my cousin moves into his 1st new house in the next few weeks and he's come round my house and said to me can you help me spend some money on some av kit

he needs the whole lot from scratch and has a 2-3K budget, although could be pushed to 3.5k

he isnt fussed about the kit but he knows he wants

a plasma 42" (standmounted not wall)
    sky plus
    a DVD player
a speaker set-up more than likely floor standers etc.

now my experiance is seperates (denon amp) and crt tele with projector. with that you get all the inputs you need. but im not sure what i will need to get with regards to the plasma side of things. ive seen the panasonic pw6 is mentioned loads but i have no experience on plasma so dont know whats good or bad...

can someone answer some or one of this. and help me spend his hard earned

    cheers

    Dom

The PW6 is bargain of the moment, great picture, right brand name, priced to kill. What more can we say? £1600 is the lowest, roughly speaking. That gives you spare dosh for a decent setup. Nice video upconverting amp, good DVD, RGB/component converter for sky+, sexy speakers, it'll be great. Yamaha 750 is the cheapest upconverting amp, then Onkyo 602, followed by the Denons. All are good, Onkyo has 2 zone switching for only £20 more than Yamaha, fun for 2nd room or picture in picture, and 3 component inputs. Gives you spare inputs for console, etc.

    Hi Maw,

How's the Onkyo musical performance compared to the yamaha 750s?

There are not many places that stock Onkyo.

    Thanks

    Alex
