something similar to the Gran Turismo or Project Gothem Racing?
It's not similar, but let me be the first of many to recommend Mario Kart DS.
Yeah, Mario Kart DS! It's such a fun game and super addictive!
You could also try Race Driver: Create & Race if you like touring cars.
All the recent Need For Speed games are available on the DS too.
I was enjoying Need For Speed Pro Street until I had to do the drag racing, which is far too hard and has fiddly controls.
I think you might be able to get a Burnout game on it too.
Some others are :
Asphalt Urban GT
Ridge Racer DS
OK. thanks guys. I'm new to the DS, but my son has had one for a year or so, and has Mario Karts. Also got a PSP, and have the Burnout games on there. Will checkout the others mentioned, esp Ridge Racer, which i didn't know was available on the DS.
Aside Mario Kart and Create & Race not a lot kicking about really, certainly not as much as on the PSP.
As others have mentioned, Race Driver: C&R is certainly the closest thing you're going to find to a race sim(such as GT or PGR) on the DS. I have it but haven't played it much yet as it's pretty tough for me at least, will probably get into it a bit more when we take a nice long flight back to England in April though.
MarioKart DS is great fun but of course a totally different game to the ones you mentioned in your original post, highly recommended though.
You can play both Race Driver: C&R and MarioKart DS online by the way which certainly adds alot to the longevity of the games.
