    Hi all,

Well as you probably guessed I too am a new Moderator. I reckon pretty soon there's gonna be more moderators then members around here!! At least it will be a safe place to come and play...

I am 27 yrs old and live in Cornwall. I have 70 - 80 DVDs and a list as long as my arm of DVDs I want! The holy grail of DVDs for me is the much rumoured and highly anticipated Bladerunner Special Edition. Ond day they will release it and my life will be complete!!!

What about you guys? What DVDs do you really want which are not available yet? (If anyone says 'Star Trek V' I will ban them forever!!!:D )

I have wanted White Mischief and Empire of the Sun SE on dvd for far too long already. The latter keeps being put back and the former has only come to light on a German release with no English sound track - Harrumph. But then of course there's untold series and doc's I'd also like, though the only likliehood of acquiring those will be if a) they're repeated and b) I have a dvdr.
    Damn this is depressing me.

    Hi,

Well, from one Mod to another, the films I really want to see are all of the Hayao Miyazaki / Studio Ghibli Japanese anime movies, like:

    My Neighbour Totoro
Pon Poko: The Great Racoon War
    Kiki's Delivery Service
    Lupin 3: Castle Of Cagliostro
    Princess Mononoke (Super Collector's Edition)
Nausicaa Of The Valley Of The Wind
    Whisper Of The Heart
    Only Yesterday
Ocean Waves (aka I Can Hear The Sea)
    Laputa: Castle In The Sky
    My Neighbour's The Yamadas
    Grave Of The Fireflies
    The Story Of Yanagawa's Canals.

Luckily, most of these are due out on R2 Japanese DVD this year, so I'll be able to get most of them. But waiting till the end of the year, is going to be such a long wait!!! :(

Okay, Garrett called my bluff ;) (But next time... Grrr!)

I haven't seen much anime, although I've enjoyed what I have seen. I've got Akira, and I used to have Ghost In the Shell, but I got rid of it cos it had a sound sync fault. Saw a trailer for Metropolis the other day - looked good. I also keep hearing about a film called Avalon which is also meant to be a gooden.

More DVDs (special edition) I've been waiting ages for...

    The English Patient
    2001: a space odyssey
    Legend (comin soon apparently)
    Pulp Fiction
    Dune (david lynch)

    I'll think of more later....

The usual - Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Back to the Future plus a Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me that has the deleted scenes.

Blakes 7 would be cool too ;)

Lex did you watch the Star Trek film this afternoon, it was the one after 4.

Seriously Lex they never explained who or what was the thing they mistook as God, (just caught the end), also at one point I think Kirk starts ranting and tells his crew to cold bloodly kill some one or more, which Kirk would never do.

Unfortunatley I didn't have the pleasure of watching it this afternoon. I tend to avoid it when at all possible - I even went to a star trek marathon at the cinema a few years ago, but I went shopping for a couple of hours whilst that one was on!!

I have to admit that I did watch it once though :( . It is just a mess of a film, I am not sure what was worse, the acting, the script, the story, or the special fx! Why they let Shatner direct it I'll never know (funny how he hasn't directed anything since! )

I don't know why they thought that thing was God - I guess they are just easily fooled (I bet they got ITV digital instaed of Sky on the Enterprise!:D ). Rumour has it that William Shatner thought he was God on set and fell out with just about everyone, including the producers, the crew, the cast, the 'writer', the tea boy, and even the composer! (Ironic as the music was the only good thing about it!).

I think the whole thing just went to Shatner's head and he showed what little grasp/understanding he had of the Star Trek ethos.

    Horrible film   :)

Fell out with Jerry Goldsmith! from all the interviews I have heard of Jerry, I found him very affable and respectful. It will be a sad day when anything happens to him.
I see he has or is in the process of writing the music for Star Trek: Nemesis
